20.01.2022 A huge thank you to Tamara Smith, MP for acknowledging in parliament the important role of community volunteers in missing persons situations.

19.01.2022 We are so proud of our volunteers from Byron Bay and beyond who's work and dedication have been recognised with the Award of Volunteer Team of the Year (Northern Rivers region). We love you! Thank You so much. #nswvolunteerawards

18.01.2022 This is the amazing Suzie Ratcliffe, founder of Leave a Light On Inc. Suzie's sister Joanne 11, along with an another little girl Kirste Gordan 5, were abducted from Adelaide Oval SA in 1973. Suzie and Joanne's parents would leave the front porch light on every night in the hope that if Joanne came home she would know that her parents were waiting for her. Suzie established Leave A Light On in 2015 and organises an event every year for the families of missing persons.... Tonight we remember all missing persons across Australia. There are over 2600 long-term missing impacting the lives of thousands of Australians. Join us tonight to remember them. Leave your light on, take a snap and post it on facebook or instagram using the hashtags #LeaveALightOn #BringThemHome #MissingPersons

16.01.2022 We'd like to extend our warmest congratulations to David Murray, creator of 'The Lighthouse' podcast, who has been named as a finalist in this year's Queensland Clarion Awards, recognising excellence in Journalism. The Lighthouse has been recognised in the Radio, Documentary, and Podcast category, alongside the brilliant work of The Lady Vanishes and Pendulum. We're so thankful for David's compassion, intelligence, dedication and the long hours he put in to creating a podcast... of the highest quality. His work allowed us to share Théo's story far and wide, so we would have the best possible chance of bringing him home. So good luck David - you're already a winner in our eyes!

16.01.2022 The skeletal remains found in Byron Bay bushland last month, in the same area than where Théo went missing, are confirmed as missing woman Thea Liddle. The circumstances of her death remain under investigation... We would like to offer our deepest condolences to Thea's family.... https://www.abc.net.au//nsw-police-confirm-remain/12514710

14.01.2022 CAN YOU HELP? We recently found out that the black watch that Théo was wearing wasn't the one we thought, but a new one rather similar. The display (digital only, no hands) and the straps are different. Please have a look at this photo. Can you help us to identify the make/brand and model ? (Note the display: Black numbers on grey background, not grey numbers on black background.) Thank you.

12.01.2022 A huge thank you to Child Focus, a wonderful organisation in Belgium, who displayed Théo’s photo and information in the stands during the recent Belgium-Denmark football game. Football is missing it’s fans. But families are missing their children even more.

09.01.2022 Where are you Théo ? You went missing on the 31st of May 2019, after 6,5 month of a fantastic trip to Australia, and 13 days before returning to Belgium. Today we should have had a great party for your 20th birthday, the most wonderful age in life ! Your flamboyant personality, your interest for others and for the environment leaves an immense void amongst us. We miss you so much !!! Where are you Théo ??? Your brother, mother and father #stillmissing Théo #HAYEZ turns 20 today and is still missing. After more than one year, his family still hopes for information to find him. If you have any information, contact Crime Stoppers at (+61) 1800 333 000 or report online https://crimestoppers.com.au/. Information can also be reported anonymously at www.looking4theo.com. Every detail can make a difference.

08.01.2022 Today we’re celebrating the wonderful David Murray, National Crime Correspondent for The Australian. Last night David and his team won the Radio, Documentary and Podcast category of the Clarion Awards, for their exceptional telling of Théo’s story in ‘The Lighthouse’ podcast. The work they did helped to ensure millions of people became aware of Théo’s disappearance. Huge congrats and many thanks Dave!

05.01.2022 The Looking for Théo Hayez volunteer team has been nominated for the NSW Volunteer of the Year awards. These awards celebrate the enormous difference volunteers and volunteer organisations make to their communities. The Northern Rivers regional ceremony is being held by Zoom meeting tomorrow afternoon, so please wish them luck! Here is a sneak peak of the nomination: "The volunteers have managed to create together a unique and very efficient taskforce that achieved something... that wouldn’t have otherwise been possible for the family, not only due to the geographical distance between Belgium and Australia, but also due to the incredible dedication, tenacity, strength and energy when the family was emotionally debilitated by the gravity of the situation. " "Since the start of their involvement, very strong connections and beautiful friendships have been established between the volunteers and members of Théo’s family. In those very dramatic and difficult times their support, assistance and love has been crucial for the family to stay strong. All those outstretched hands have prevented us from falling under the weight of an unbearable suffering. During these very difficult times for the family, the volunteers have showed the best side of humanity and have lit a brilliant light in the middle of the darkness we are in." "The work achieved by the volunteers in helping and assisting the search has brought an incredible moral and emotional support to the family. It does fill a very big and important gap in the established process that any family of a missing person has to face in Australia - the lack of mental, emotional, or human support from the authorities to the very traumatic experience of an ambiguous loss."
