I left the UK scene back in 2010 and I'd like to say "I can't believe it's got this bad", but the sad reality is that there was probably a lot of things going on that I was naïve too. I hope we can all learn from this. 08.01.2022 RUOK is a real mixed day for me. Mainly because a previous work place promoted RUOK with a great gusto, but in reality was a very toxic workplace, with ineffectual managers, corrupt leadership, gas lighting, favoritism, racist & homophobic behavior, serious nepotism and a HR department more concerned with protecting the company's image than their more vulnerable employees. A credit to the owners of that business, they did legitimately try to make a company that cared, but ul...timately these issue tend to lie with those in the managers in the middle of the system. For so long I thought it was just myself experiencing this, but when it was clear that I was unhappy, many current and former employees came forward to share their stories and it was shocking how so much was being covered and how scared they were to say anything. It made me ill. Very very ill. I went through a very serious bout of depression which resulted in real psychology damage and physical symptoms. It was a very scary time. Things are going very now and I greatly appreciate my current employer and my immediate team who are incredibly supportive and collaborative. No one is left behind. HOWEVER ... the point of my post is to tell you that RUOK day is VERY important to those who are going through hard times. The people who helped me and supported me were empathetic people within the business who were able to spare five minutes to ask "hey, are you ok". They'd be colleagues who take me to a pub for a beer, went to grab a coffee, pulled me to one side to let me know they had a similar experience. But often, they were just someone who had the kindness to take 30 seconds to check on me, listen and sometimes give real genuine advice. It's not easy to get the balance right, I get that. You don't want to be sucked in and be impacted by other's mental hardships when you may have your own demons or if things are going well for yourself. But being there, showing some support, simply asking "RUOK" and listening, can help more than you can possibly know. Thank you. #RUOK #MentalHealth

04.01.2022 I miss wrestling. And I know the scene has taken a hit and that many people are considering whether the Australian scene is for them anymore. I’ve always been an optimist and I believe we’re going to learn and grow from recent events. But I have to say I am also INCREDIBLY excited. The downtime has allowed me to take a break with my new baby daughter (Little Lady Coyne), but has also allowed myself and my team at Snap Mayors Media / No Holds Bar to brainstorm some fun new i...dea that will help build on our scene. More importantly, I am excited because I’m not the only one whose been thinking of the future. I’ve always got on quite well with a wide range of people within the Victorian scene, and many of them have talked about their hopes and plans for when the Covid situation begins to improve. New show concepts, new ideas, outside the box thinking, fresh enthusiasm, and more accountability. But perhaps more excitedly, there is a real sense of collaboration between these different parties. We all want the scene to improve and grow, and I’m glad so many of my peers also hold these values close to them. So hang in there everyone wrestling in this country is going to take a real leap forward and I can’t wait to enjoy it with you.
