20.01.2022 Tonight is full moon. Kangaroos and wallabies are far more active around full moon than at any other time. Consequently, many more than usual are killed or fa...tally injured in collisions with vehicles. Full moon this month also coincides with the Easter holidays making it one of the busiest times on our roads and also the most treacherous for wildlife. This past month alone has seen a horrendously high loss of life, with 66 adults and 5 joeys killed in collisions with vehicles. Another 6 joeys were miraculously found alive and are currently in care but there is no guarantee these tiny orphans will survive. Lets all work together to make this full moon a safer time for all. * Drive with heightened awareness on the night of full moon, and each night either side. * When appropriate to do so, drive enough below the speed limit to allow for safe stopping time. * When safe to do so, drive with high beams on to illuminate further into the dark regions on either side of the road. * NEVER assume that a single kangaroo or wallaby crossing in front of your vehicle is alone. More often than not it will shortly be followed by others not yet visible to you. Frequently these are at-foot joeys following their mother. Being smaller, slower and less road wary, these joeys are frequent victims of vehicle strikes. * NEVER assume that kangaroos and wallabies ONLY cross roads at night. Wallabies and Kangaroos can be active day and night . Many are regularly killed by vehicle strikes during daylight hours. Always drive at a safe stopping speed at all times in areas frequented by these animals. * If you do hit a kangaroo or wallaby or find one injured, follow these simple steps: * If the animal is still alive it will need to be transported to a vet for urgent assessment and probable euthanasia. Call the Surf Coast Animal Rescue 24/7 help line: 0422 048 557 and a rescuer will attend asap and transport the animal to a vet clinic. * If the animal is deceased, check for a pouch and the possibility of a live in-pouch joey. If a live joey exists, once again call Surf Coast Animal Rescue and a rescuer will attend asap. (A huge thanks to Nathan Patterson for the use of his beautiful artwork for this post )

The Lorne P-12 College parent club, will be taking over the running and organisation of the market for 2020 onwards. We are currently in the process of organising this. 03.01.2022 Thank you to all our stall holders for providing a wonderful vibe at our market yesterday. Lorne was crazy, people every where. Hope you all had a great day, see you next year. Unfortunately we had one stall holder who didn’t take their rubbish home with them. As part of receiving the permit from GORCC to hold the market the agreement is that all rubbish will be taken home and removed from the site. Let’s hope this doesn’t jeopardise us being issued with the permit for 2019 Easter market

02.01.2022 We have also sent everyone an email from a gmail account in case you don't recognise. It has some fInal housekeeping, arrival times, map and advertising to share. See you all on Saturday.....
