24.01.2022 Shepparton Cricket Club (AUS) vs Shepperton Cricket Club (ENG) 1986 Tour of England (Bill & Ivan Williams Collection)

22.01.2022 UPDATE - Didn't take long at all for the names to be solved! TOP ROW (L-R): Jon Griffin Snr (scorer), Greg Connors, Geoff Qose, Peter Ryan, Ian Morrish (Captain), Peter Goodfellow, Geoff Francis, Graham Follett FRONT ROW (L-R): Jon Griffin Jnr, Jamie Munro (Vice Captain), Rob Ray, Steve Winnett, Greg Jenkinson... NAME THE TEAM ------------------------- It's been a while since we have had one of these, so let's take you back to 1982/83 quickly. When hair was big and shirts were long sleeve, rolled up like DK Lillee. That season we made the Cricket Shepparton Haisman Shield decider, but lost out to our current club mates Shepparton Youth Club CC. Starting from our scorer, we will go left to right, top row then bottom row. Fire away!

22.01.2022 It's been a while but we are back with a 'name the team and season' photo sent in to us by Greg Sharp via Jon Griffin. Fire away!

20.01.2022 Sent by Greg Sharp via Jon Griffin, this photo is possibly from the Shepparton News. On field leadership for the 1989/90 season. From left: Ivan Williams (C Grade captain), Greg Sharp (Club Coach), Blair Wilson (A Grade captain) & Terry Richardson (B Grade captain). A couple of nice mullets in the middle, bookended by some impressive lip foliage!

19.01.2022 After a fair bit of delving into the archives we now have the list of what we believe are all the Shepparton Cricket Club life members and the season in which they were awarded life membership (prior to merging with SYC CC in 2003). What we can't figure out is why it took so long for the first life membership to be awarded. With the club in existence from 1874, why did it take until 1966/67 for the first one to be awarded? A number of Shepparton players had already been awa...rded life membership of Cricket Shepparton including Bob Malcolm in 1934/35. He served as secretary of Shepparton Cricket Club for 26 years, but wasn't awarded with a club life membership. There are a number of other players/officials who have had major contributions to both club and association , but only received association life membership. Does anyone have any theories or knowledge on why this may be? See more

19.01.2022 SHEPPARTON CRICKET CLUB PREMIERSHIPS ------------------------------------------------------------------- Two lists, the first one is before the inception of Cricket Shepparton with some history that we know. These lists don't include junior premierships.

12.01.2022 We've hit a significant milestone thanks to our latest follower John Taylor. Try saying it without the Richie Benaud voice! Super effort that!

09.01.2022 Does anyone remember Darrin's dad Peter Collier?

06.01.2022 Winners are Grinners! Goulburn Murray zone, which now forms part of the Northern Rivers zone, wins the under 21 Kleenex Cup in about 1989 we are guessing. A couple of our followers are members of this team and should be able to help with a date. (Bill & Ivan Williams Collection)

05.01.2022 HONOUR BOARDS ---------------------------- There's been much discussion over the years about the club's honour boards. It's been said they were destroyed during the floods of 1974. But was there ever a record or photos of the information on them? In minutes from the 1983/84 season there is mention of quotes being sourced for new honour boards, and in minutes from the 1987/88 season Life Member Stuart Gawne has donated $200 towards new honour boards. So what happened? It's s...till a bit of a mystery. Attached are three photos of information we have been gathering over the last 5 years (you may need to download the photos to zoom in). These are a snapshot of club officials from 1874 - 2003. The glaring gaps as you will see are obviously in the early years, but also from 1952/53 - 1964/65. This is a period in which the club won the 1962/63 Haisman Shield. We have no club records from these missing seasons, but we are hoping somebody out there might. Have a look at the photos. You may see names of relatives in there who may have stashed some paperwork away somewhere. We hope! 05.01.2022 Recently we saw the passing of another Shepparton Cricket Club great. Brian 'Tacker' Trezise was an integral member of our last Haisman Shield winning team in 1965/66. Injured leading into the finals that season Les Cranage (Shepparton News 9.3.1966) wrote: "....Brian Trezise, their brilliant right hand opening bowler, who fully fit is a match-winner .... is again plagued with the old injury to his bowling arm". SCC managed to scrape past Mooroopna in the semi-final on the ba...ck of a devastating spell from a young Kent Crosby (7/52), with Tacker bowling "half pace and round arm" grabbing 2/28. In the final played against Jasper Jones and his Footballers team, Tacker was back to his best: "A fine bowling performance (3/34) and a sound tail-end batting effort (23 not out), both by Brian Trezise, has swung the game Shepparton's way ....... he collected the scalps of Jones, McKenzie and Baldi in a sustained bowling burst which put the skids under Footballers and allowed Shepparton to take the lead on first innings points by 22 valuable runs." (Les Cranage, Shepp News, 28.3.1966). This lead was never challenged with Shepparton batting well in the 2nd innings with Albert 'Snicks' Canobie getting an unbeaten century before time was called. Tacker took 33 wickets @ 10.6 that season to finish runner-up in the club averages to Bill Beattie (39 @ 9.3) but won the club and Association bowling averages twice from what records we have gathered from that period. Brian Trezise (29.01.1940 - 23.05.2019) passed away peacefully at Shepparton Private Hospital. Anybody who witnessed Tacker's bowling exploits we would love to hear your thoughts.
