21.01.2022 As an extension to yesterdays snail find, we went on a hunt through the garden today. We found baby snails and caterpillars eating Michelles mint and we even found two cocoons. We discussed the "Very Hungry Caterpillar" story using picture cards that matched our find.

21.01.2022 Over recent weeks we have observed slugs n snails in the garden and today we made our own using playdough and shells. A great follow up and discussion builder to previous experiences

20.01.2022 As part of our fortnightly program we are learning about social rules for children. This involves Waiting, Taking Turns, Sharing, Negotiating, Listening and Cooperating. It is important for children to cooperate in play and sometimes this means we get frustrated. By learning to wait and take turns, children also learn to regulate their behavior. Some simple ways you can help your child is by:... *encourage them to WAIT if you are doing things. Acknowledge them and tell them you will help them when you are finished. *encourage your child to take turns with a sibling or friend. *Remind children that listening is important so role model good listening when they are talking to you. *Praise your child when they are doing any of these actions eg "Ï like the way you were able to help me put the toys away with me today" *Negotiate terms like "If you help me put away the blocks I will read you a story" *Dont give in!!! Children will push boundaries. This is normal behavior, but the adult needs to remain in control and encourage the child to follow directions. If you constantly give in, a child will learn to manipulate the situation and this will cause issues as they get older. I can be quite firm in the fdc environment and I very rarely give in. Children are encouraged in a positive way and consistency is key. Children will participate in routines eg packing up if I role model and make it a fun experience. Try some of these things at home and see if you notice a difference. Good Luck

15.01.2022 It is proven that being outdoors and in nature is good for us. It makes us happier, healthier, more resilient and more caring. In recent decades, childhood has changed. Kids have moved indoors as screens have replaced outdoor play. Here at lotsafun2bwith fdc I encourage outdoor play all year, rain or shine.... Today as rain pelted down outside, we explored under the verandah and found a snail. The children were fascinated as we discussed how they eat, move and change shape. #natureplay #fdcideas #ilovefdc

11.01.2022 CHILDREN’S WEEK 24 OCTOBER - 1 NOVEMBER 2020 Children’s Week is a national celebration of children’s rights, talents and citizenship held on the fourth Wednesday of October in Australia to coincide with Universal Children’s Day. Each year the theme of Children’s Week highlights a particular Children’s Right.... The Theme for 2020 is Article 15 ‘Children have the right to meet together and to join groups and organisations, as long as this does not stop other people from enjoying their rights. This includes being free to: meet individual people and groups of friends set up an organisation join an organisation take part in peaceful protest come together to discuss the issues that affect their lives. Children’s Week 2020 is a wonderful opportunity to promote the rights of children and young people, and to celebrate their capacity to actively contribute to the world around them.

09.01.2022 Today is a reminder to check in and ask someone RUOK? People in crisis need empathy, compassion and understanding without judgement so if you are going to ask the question, be willing to stay and listen. Often we jump in and offer resolutions but if we sit back and LISTEN and really hear what the person has to say, they will feel heard and supported. ... Remember that even your strong friends may need support too. #ruokday2020

04.01.2022 Confidence, self criticism and body issues begin at a young age and as adults, we influence our children by what we say around them. Here at LotsaFun2BWith FDC I encourage positive body image in all shapes and sizes. With discussion about our bodies and intentional teaching practices, we focus on accepting all people no matter what they look like. What you say about people in front of your child will guide their beliefs for life so be careful how you react to people in public.... You dont know their story and making assumptions is never a good outcome. Promote healthy choices and physical activity as often as you can but never criticise different body shapes. #loveyourbody
