25.01.2022 Happy New Year! We hope you had a safe and relaxing Christmas break. Unfortunately, due to the increase in COVID-19 cases, NSW Health has reverted back to an Amber Alert which means that we must wear masks for all clinical encounters. Please bring one with you to your appointment. If you reside in Sydney, have visited any known hotspots, or are unwell, please contact us to reschedule your appointment.... It is recommended that anyone exhibiting symptoms including fever (37.5 or higher), cough, sore throat, shortness of breath (difficulty breathing), runny nose, loss of taste or smell be tested. Other reported symptoms of COVID-19 include fatigue, acute blocked nose (congestion), muscle pain, joint pain, headache, diarrhoea, nausea/vomiting and loss of appetite. Unexplained chest pain and conjunctivitis have also been reported as symptoms of COVID-19. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia with severe acute respiratory distress. NSW Health recommends that anyone with respiratory symptoms, loss of sense of smell or taste, or unexplained fever should be tested for COVID-19. Whilst there are a number of respiratory viruses circulating currently exclusion of COVID_19 remains important for the ongoing control of COVID-19 in the community. While we are still screening all persons using our QR code, we will be introducing the Service NSW QR check in as suggested by NSW Government. Please download it here prior to your appointment to save time: https://www.service.nsw.gov.au//check-covid-safe-business- If you do not have a smartphone, the lovely girls on the front desk will still be able to assist you to check-in when you arrive at reception. We do request that you continue to attend your appointment alone or bring one parent or support person where necessary. This will help limit the amount of people in our waiting room as we have multiple Specialists working each day. Thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation to help maintain the health and safety of you, other patients and our staff to ensure we can continue to provide you with our care.

22.01.2022 Today, on International Nurses Day, we would like to formally acknowledge the great work our nursing team provides every day. You warm the hearts of many with your kindness and compassion #thankyou #IND2020

19.01.2022 Unfortunately for many families with a seriously ill or injured child, they don't know where they will be this Christmas. Of course they hope to be home, but it is likely they will be beside their child's bed in hospital. Ronald McDonald House is an independent charity that relies on the work of volunteers and the financial support of individual and corporate donations. Without generous contributions, they would be unable to keep our doors open to families in need 365 days a... year. In lieu of our staff secret Santa this year the team at Lotus have decided to donate to the Ronald McDonald Children's House charity and have contributed $670 to this worthy cause. Click on the link below if you would like to donate too https://www.rmhc.org.au/donate#/

19.01.2022 Just a reminder that we will be closed today and reopen tomorrow, Tuesday 9th June. If you have an urgent matter during this time, please contact the John Hunter Hospital. If you need to make an appointment, please call us on 49293400 after 8:30am tomorrow.

13.01.2022 According to the Cancer Council, all Australians need to remember to keep a close eye on their skin and head to their doctor if they notice anything unusual. The simple message is don’t delay. The evidence clearly shows that the earlier any skin cancer is detected, the more likely it is that it will be successfully treated. Here at Lotus we understand that this pandemic can be a cause for concern but skin health is essential and we are still open. We are dedicated to provid...ing safe and effective care during this time. We are screening every person for a temperature on entry to the practice and have implemented extra precautions such as extending our waiting room to allow for social distancing. COVID-19 does not stop skin cancer or conditions such as psoriasis or acne. If you have any concerns, don’t delay your Dermatology appointment. We have a number of Specialists who provide excellent and professional care for all skin conditions with appointments available. Please see your GP for a referral and contact us on 49293400 to schedule a suitable time.

11.01.2022 We can often forget to sun protect in the Winter months and UV levels can still be fairly high. Every mild sunburn can increase your risk of developing melanoma and the more often you are burnt, the higher that risk becomes. The best sunscreens are ones with broad spectrum for both UVB (cancer causing rays, sunburn) and UVA (penetrate deeper, cause sun damage and wrinkles). Whilst Lotus Dermatology does not endorse any particular brand of sunscreen, some dermatologically tested brands include Propaira, QV, La Roche Posay, Anthelios, Neutrogena & Cetaphil. It is important to carefully read all ingredients of any sunscreen and equally important to reapply if outdoors for long periods of time. If you have any questions or concerns, we encourage you to speak to your Dermatologist.

09.01.2022 Lotus would like to advise that while it is still business as usual, the current advice is that due to the increase in community transmission of COVID-19, application of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) continues to be a key focus for the health system, with the safety of our patients and staff our priority. We ask that when attending your appointment, please wear a mask, attend your consultation alone or limit the amount of people attending with you to one sup...port person or parent where necessary. Your temperature will be taken and you will be asked to complete a COVID-19 declaration upon arrival. If you are unwell, have recently been tested, or tested positive for COVID-19, have any respiratory symptoms or visited any hotspots recently, please call us on 49293400 to reschedule your appointment. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our COVID-19 response.

01.01.2022 We are currently experiencing issues with our phones. If your enquiry is urgent, please email us at [email protected]

01.01.2022 Approximately 3% of the population suffer from Hyperhidrosis, also known as excessive sweating. Underarm (axillary) Hyperhidrosis can be treated by our Dermatologists with botulinum toxin and the cost of treatment is heavily subsidised by Medicare via a referral from your GP. Please contact us to schedule a mutually convenient appointment with one of our qualified Dermatologists. If suitable, treatment can often be done at the time of consultation.

01.01.2022 We are closed over the long weekend and will re-open on Tuesday 14th April. Have a safe and relaxing weekend
