24.01.2022 Brisbane's own Aiden Bradley is a client who works with me at multiple stages of his recording process. I work with him on production, offer mix notes, and then master the final track. He lets me in at the early stages of a demo so I can provide initial feedback. As the song takes shape, and he starts recording keeper tracks, I chime in with thoughts on arrangements/instrumentation. As it nears the mixing phase, I add some texture like programmed drums, synths, or organs, al...ways seeking to help the song come into its full potential and never take the focus away from him. Aiden mixes his own tracks, and I'll listen to them and send back notes of what I'd do if I was mixing. When it comes time to master the song, I appreciate that he often has notes for me. I'll send masters to him, and he auditions them at home then sends me questions or notes, and we'll do a few revisions before it's all finished. His latest song "Stupid Things" turned out really well, you can check it out via all the usual channels. If you'd like to work with me, drop me a line at: [email protected] Timothy.

24.01.2022 I've co-produced and mastered another song with Aiden Bradley. Coming soon!

24.01.2022 Here's the link for a sneaky listen of 'Tindersoul' before it's released tomorrow!

23.01.2022 Happy single-launch day to Shakes Fear & the Skeleton Gang with their creepily killer new track, Doctor Skinner's Surgery. Was a real joy to work on this one.

19.01.2022 Hey, I'm Timothy. I've been an audio engineer since 2001. I graduated from the Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology (www.oiart.org) in Canada and have been nerding out on all things audio ever since then. I worked in recording studios in Toronto for 7 years before migrating to Australia. I have experience with engineering, production, mixing, mastering, and songwriting (with my band Ocean Leaves). I find mastering to be a very satisfying process. It brings everythi...ng to life. I do my mastering "in the box", using gentle EQ, compression / limiting, tape emulation (if desired), and in some cases even barely-there plate reverb to wake up the mix a bit if it's too dry. Who I am: a fellow musician and songwriter, a passionate audio nerd, someone who will be honest with you about your mix, and someone who will give you 500% effort to make your song sound professional and release-ready. Who I am not: someone in a purpose-built audio mastering facility, someone with a huge console and racks full of outboard gear. I have worked on that gear in large facilities, but in my personal studio I'm working in the computer. If you want the big-studio old school analog gear experience, there are a lot of places you can get it. I have plug-ins that do a great job of giving your songs the mojo of analog gear, without me needing to physically perform tape machine alignment. My services are aimed at bands who want mastering but can't afford the big studios. You want your song to sound good no matter where it is played, but are on a tight budget? I'm your guy. I balance your song against my nice studio monitors, expensive headphones, but also on crap headphones, ear buds, my car stereo, my laptop speakers, a cheap CD boombox, and the crud external speaker on my phone. I compare your song against your mix reference (have one!) in each listening environment and get it sounding as close as I can. Lastly, if your mix has problems, I won't master it. What I will do is tell you where the problems are, and work with you to get it ready for mastering. Make sure you leave me 3dB to 6dB of headroom so I can do my thing. Getting your final mastered mix back is a great feeling, especially if you press CDs or vinyl, and can lay in a huge pile of them on the floor... Thanks! Timothy.

19.01.2022 The single "Mess Things Up" is a real earworm, and the most recently-released track I've mastered over here at Loudness Wars. Give it a listen. :)

19.01.2022 I've been working with a Brisbane musician named Aiden Bradley who's hired me not only for mastering but also to help co-produce his forthcoming EP. We've spent a good many weeks going back & forth on drum programming ideas, arrangement notes, mix notes, etc. We have just completed the final mastering on his first single, called "Mess Things Up", and it has turned out so well. It's being released in about a month so watch this space!

16.01.2022 "My favourite part of any song is usually the bridge, and this song is no exemption. The lyrics begin to really depict the darkness of heart break and as it leads into the final chorus, I feel little fireworks go off in my chest." Great review, Aiden! What a warm response.

14.01.2022 Glowing review of my latest collaboration track with Aiden: "The instrumentation goes beyond the standard guitars, bass, drums, and uses instead a range of percussion, stylistic guitars to create an incredibly textured piece of music."

13.01.2022 I mastered this awesome new Dave Is A Spy single called Tindersoul, and it'll be up for free download soon. Upbeat, fun, catchy, full of horns and hooks and huge-sounding drums.

13.01.2022 Very happy to see Aiden's track we did together getting a lot of love!

12.01.2022 Dave Is A Spy's new single "Tindersoul" is #1 in Australia on triple j Unearthed. Congratulations to Fin, Sarah, and James. It's a great song and was fun to "make loud" via mastering. Hope your single launch last night went well, and have fun on the Brisbane Pride main stage today!

09.01.2022 Congrats to Aiden Bradley for his song Mess Things Up reaching #40 in the 4ZZZ Hot 100.

07.01.2022 Beautiful live stripped-back arrangement of the song I did with Aiden.

07.01.2022 What is mastering? Why should you care? Can't your mix engineer just take care of that for you?

05.01.2022 Here's my latest production and mastering credits, on the new single "Stupid Things" by Aiden Bradley. Check it out, I think it turned out really well, and Aiden is anyways a pleasure to work with. Loving this series of collaborations from him. My production influence can be heard with the Mellotron, Linndrum sampled drums, and the synth bass over the bridge. I'm also working on a downtempo electronic remix of this song, so watch for that. Timothy.

02.01.2022 "Tindersoul" is now up on Dave Is A Spy's TripleJ Unearthed page, so click this link to listen or download. I had tons of fun mastering this one. These guys are consistently polishing their sound, and all the horns and energetic drums on this track won me over the first time I heard it.
