24.01.2022 It's a Competition! This should be fun.

23.01.2022 Our transparent counter screens have been in place almost 2 weeks now and allow our friendly staff to answer your questions face to face while providing another physical barrier to the spread of COVID-19 and other viruses. Right now is a great time to install your new roll-on lawn. At this time of year a new lawn will still put down roots and be in place ready to take off when the warmer weather arrives. As always for best results a well designed irrigation system and good so...il preparation will ensure you have the healthiest and most economical lawn. Our staff can help advise you how to prepare your site to achieve this. When visiting our office please read and follow our COVID-19 related guidelines outlined on the front door or if you prefer call 9453 6222 to discuss your turf needs.

23.01.2022 Just an impromptu video showing our display and talking about some benefits of aerating lawn.

23.01.2022 The sprinkler ban has ended and many lawn owners don't know when they should turn their sprinklers on. The answer is underground. Check your soil for moisture but have a look where your roots are. This photo from Spring 2019 shows how effective root growth even in this young lawn can save you water dollars. As always still watch for the leaf signals of dehydration such is leaf curl and greying too.... If your lawn doesn't have a good root system now then consider aerating to make it easier for your roots to grow and precious water to get down where you want it. The aim is a healthy, happy and economical lawn. If you're not sure what your lawn needs please ask. See more

This competition closes 12pm Friday 31st July. Good luck and don't forget to show your lawn some winter lawn love

22.01.2022 A quick video of our Camcore in action. Today we gave this machine a quick run over a compacted turf area that will be serviced by our tractor-drawn Earthquake decompactor next week and were impressed with not only how well it handled the hard ground but the depth and spacing of the holes produced. This pedestrian machine is perfect for the DIY home lawn owner and available for hire from our Wattle Grove farm for $88/day. If your lawn is looking worse for wear after winter no...w is a great time to aerate/core it to soften the soil and promote root growth. Remember you might not see much leaf growth at this time of year but lawn roots will still grow. Aeration is often a vital process for a healthy strong lawn. Aerate now to start the growing season with a strong root system and take advantage of the last of the free winter rain. We also have 3 and 4-pronged Trident manual corers available for hire and if DIY is not for you we can recommend contractors to do your home lawn for you. If you are interested in this machine or require advice email [email protected] with photos of your lawn and your questions. See more

21.01.2022 We have some second grade Wintergreen rolls available for $3/sqm and some second grade Empire Zoysia rolls for $6/sqm available. Second grade turf is a great budget option. This picture shoes how quickly Wintergreen seconds come back at this time of year. Empire Zoysia is a little slower but with adequate water and fertilizer it will recover. Seconds can not be held or booked and need to be viewed prior to sale.... If you are interested call 1800TURFMAN. See more

21.01.2022 Catch cups are an essential part of healthy, economical and environmentally responsible lawn establishment and maintenance. These cups are provided free to suppliers like us by the Water Corp. Please hold on to your catch cups and use them regularly. If you no longer have a lawn or garden please pass your catch cups to a neighbour or friend or drop them off to us at our Wattle Grove Turf Farm for redistribution.

18.01.2022 So the heatwave has been pretty rough on Perth lawns this week and Summer isn't even here yet. This heatwave was a big test for Perth lawns and will show up any areas that need just a bit more attention. Take advantage of what your lawn has told you this week and address the problem/s to achieve the beautiful, healthy and economical lawn you deserve. If your lawn suffered heat stress damage and you have checked adequate and consistent water was applied with catch-cups wett...ing agent has been applied and working and compaction and thatch are not the issue then it is most likely your lawn does not have a sufficient root system to survive on the recommended watering recommendations in its current condition and location. Radiant heat from adjacent roads and reflective heat from white fences are often problem areas and a little more attention in these situations may be required to get their roots down. We recommend having a dig and checking your root growth in heat-effected areas and addressing the issue now. You may even find buried rubble, rocks or a similar root-restricting and root-cooking issue/s. Remove undesirable material if you do. Give these areas an additional deep soak when high temperatures are expected. If you have a layer of dead leaf now, this leaf can become hydrophobic itself. Apply some wetting agent to help the water 'slip through' that dead layer. Feed with Eco red and raise your mowing height to stimulate root growth. Some Eco Vital or Seasol will help both root growth and help your lawn cope with the recent stress. A light top dress with a Gingin Loam and aged chicken manure mix will also help recovery and breakdown the dead leaf layer. Also take note of these problem areas and in the cooler weather give them a good deep aeration with a pitchfork. Please feel free to ask any questions so we can help you achieve a beautiful Lovegrove lawn.

18.01.2022 This is part of our aftercare instructions on how to care for your new lawn. Please remember the watering recommended times are a guide only. Your new turf needs to be monitored and watering needs to be suit your lawn situation.

18.01.2022 Just a quick video of Dick Lovegrove using the screwdriver test for compaction on one of our job sites. The first area tested has been treated with one of our Agrivators and the screwdriver is pushed in to the soil to 150mm easily. The second area has not been treated and the screwdriver barely goes in 100mm. This demonstrates the benefits of the service and the client's requirements were achieved. If the screwdriver had not gone into the top 150mm of the treated area easily ...we would have discussed and recommended an additional service or alternate aerating technique. Remember grass roots love soft ground See more

15.01.2022 EMPIRE ZOYSIA second grade turf rolls for $4/sqm available now. We have 230sqm EZ seconds available. Seconds must be viewed before sale. 14.01.2022 Today's rain and mild temperature provides excellent conditions for laying a new lawn. We have some fresh Bison soft leaf buffalo in our fridge this morning if you looking for last minute turf. Call 9453 6222 to order or discuss your lawn needs

14.01.2022 Often scalping or low mowing is exactly what your lawn needs and it is beneficial to some lawns. When not done properly scalping can create additional thatch and it does not resolve excessive organic matter that has built up below the soil surface. If you have too much dead root material/organic matter build up below soil level it can create a hydrophobic or even water absorbing "mat layer" preventing vital water reaching deeper into your soil profile, your lawn's roots and ...where you want your roots to grow to. Remember if you want your roots to go deep get the water there. If your lawn is spongy above the soil level only, a hard scalping or low mow can be done to remove the above ground thatch but you need to go hard and not leave dead material (future thatch) behind. Buffalo needs to be treated a bit more carefully. If mat layer is your problem you need to vertimow or even scarify and/or aerate (core). Make sure you dig into your lawn (as in the picture below) or pull out a core and identify the real problem before you start your spring turf renovation.

11.01.2022 If you are thinking about working on your lawn today or this week checking the weather forecast is a great place to start. With the expected rain it is great day to put out controlled release granular fertilisers like EcoGrowth Red, Purple or Emerald and a good wetting agent. Give the liquid/foliar fertilisers and chemical herbicides a miss this week unless you have a clear window of fine weather for the leaf to take up the product. e.g. 2 hours for Knife Plus, 5 hours for mo...st herbicides. It's a great week for coring and dethatching but the wet weather will make waste pick up that bit harder. It is also a great time to put in a new lawn. If you have a newly installed lawn you may still need to run your retic. Monitor your new grass closely and make sure you have your watering exemption. See more

10.01.2022 In Perth the leaf growth of warm season grasses slows quite dramatically as the temperatures fall in autumn and winter. However lawn roots will still grow and the grass plants still need to be kept healthy. Ideally you want to go into winter with healthy, strong lawn and soil to prevent your lawn going backwards plus take advantage of the free winter rain. ...Continue reading

09.01.2022 There are many advantages to prepare for and install your new lawn in winter. Right now bulbous and difficult to eradicate weeds like soursob and guildford grass are actively growing. If these weeds are growing in your proposed lawn area we recommend removing and replacing your existing soil. These weeds die off in the warmer months so even if you are not ready to prepare your site now take note of the weeds you have so you can obtain the best preparation advice. Take note o...f areas where rain does not fall such as under eaves and dense trees. These areas will require handwatering during sprinkler bans and may be more suited as garden or paving. Turf installed at this time of year has limited leaf growth however turf will still put down roots especially when installed correctly with effective soil preparation and a good starter fertiliser with a good dose of slow-release rock Phosphorous such as EcoGrowth's EcoRed. Ensuring the roots of the turf rolls are not exposed to the cold air is vital. As you lay each roll butt the edges together to achieve a smoother finish and minimise root exposure. Once laid turf needs to be watered and a compactor used to remove air pockets between the roots and soil. When ordering your turf we provide clear written instructions on how to proceed and can answer questions specific to your situation. Call our friendly staff on 9453 6222 to discuss your lawn needs.

07.01.2022 Check out the ripper competition in the West Australian Lawn Legends group. Check it out and good luck.

04.01.2022 Our crew were busy planting stolons yesterday. With plenty of water, stolons or runners are an economical option for both large and small areas to be grassed. In the first weeks the stolons produce roots so start with a good slow release phosphorous fertiliser like Eco-Red. In just three weeks the grass leaf should start popping through. This is the time to apply a good dose of Nitrogen. At eight weeks the area should be close to covered and a further 4 weeks to "knit up" and you will have a lawn. Call our friendly sales staff on 1800TURFMAN to see if this the right option for your grassing needs.

03.01.2022 Your lawn should have loved the recent rains. Technically they were a little bit more than lawn needs but still fantastic. Hopefully your lawn is healthy, strong and deep rooted and you can now leave your retic off for maybe a week or two. (This does NOT include new lawns and maybe not lawn under eaves, dense trees and rain blocking structures.) Take advantage of this rain and give your lawn this little health check to make sure the free rain is getting where it is needed. If you need further advice use our troubleshooting form on our website and we will advise you how to achieve a happy, healthy and economical lawn ready to make the most of the future free rain water
