02.01.2022 'Tis the season for getting fit and mindful! So, here's a little secret your activewear is hiding... Most workout clothing is made from polyester AKA PLAS...TIC. Every time you wash your clothes, they release thousands of microplastic particles into the waterways. Many of these particles are too small to be filtered out, they wind up in our drinking water not to mention the problems they create in the ocean. 84% of drinking water worldwide is contaminated with these microplastics. (ORB) And, a lot of it is coming from our laundry. Plymouth University found that one load of clothes could shed up to 700,000 microplastic pieces PER WASH. / HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT / 1. When you wash your plastic clothes, use something to help catch the microplastic particles - put them in a @guppyfriend bag - use @thecoraball - get a small filter attachment for your washing machine. I know @girlfriend sells one in their shop! 2. When you're shopping for new activewear try and opt for natural fibers.
