25.01.2022 Students in both classes had lessons in Wiradjuri language this afternoon as part of a pilot program. They learned the Wiradjui words for the numbers 1 to 10 and a few words for greetings too. We are really looking forward to the lessons next week!
25.01.2022 Could all students please have their recorders in their schoolbags every day. We will be practising at various times throughout the week.

25.01.2022 Congratulations to our Principal Award recipient this week. Students receive a Principals Award for every 5 merit awards. So far, Justin has achieved 5 merit awards. A fabulous achievement Justin, keep up the great work. There are a number of other students who are almost there so watch out for them next week!
24.01.2022 Our Busy Bee in the Junior Class for week 8 is Fiona Webb. Fiona is making wonderful progress in reading and shows good understanding of what she reads.
24.01.2022 The Zoom session with Dr Karl last Friday was fabulous. The students were so engaged the whole time and have asked if we can organise it again next year. they came up with some fabulous questions ... Which theory of dinosaur extinction did Dr Karl think was the most plausible? - Reece How is hail formed? - Levi Where does dirt come from? - Eden Is there pollen left in flowers for other bees after one bee has visited the flower? - Fiona... Why do children need more sleep than adults? - Chayse Is a cashless society a good idea? - Oskar Why is COVID-19 called COVID-19? - Tyler How can God live on the moon? - Kasey How do people find dinosaur bones? - Tilly That was just a few of the questions. Brantley actually had Dr Karl stumped with his question. Why does the sky go a green colour when it's about to hail? It's amazing to think of the things that go through children's minds.
24.01.2022 Welcome to two new students at Lue Public School, Jasmine (Year 3) and Jacob (Kindergarten). We know you'll both be very happy here.
23.01.2022 A few students away today but that didnt stop everyone else dressing up as book characters for our book fair week today. I think everyone looks fabulous. Can you tell who they are?
23.01.2022 Annual School Photographs The school photographer will be at school on Wednesday this week. As photographs will be taken after 12pm, (after our lunch break), students should come to school wearing mufti on the day and have their BEST uniform in their bag to change into, (to ensure everyone is clean, tidy and looking their very best). Could every student please have either a brush or comb in their bag too so staff can tidy hair (especially the girls) if necessary. Students wil...l not be permitted to share combs/brushes or do each others hair). Students should be in winter uniform, school polo shirt, school jumper and navy pants (no tights please). All hair ribbons or clips should also be in school colours only. Black footwear please. Photo forms and money must be at school by tomorrow, Tuesday 25th August. They are to be handed to the photographer on the day. You can easily pay online using the unique code on your childs form and details of how to do this are on the form itself. Thank you to everyone who has already sent in forms and money. See more
22.01.2022 A little something to keep them occupied! https://www.facebook.com/events/760614914564921/
22.01.2022 Wishing Knox a very happy 7th birthday today. We hope you have a fabulous day, Knox!
21.01.2022 Our student of the week for week 7 is Rubie Veitch. Despite being with us for only the past few weeks, Rubie has become an integral member of the senior class and always gives her very best effort.
21.01.2022 Wishing all our dads, pops, grandads, brothers, uncles and special men in the lives of our students and families, a very happy Fathers Day today.
19.01.2022 This Friday, all students will be provided a pizza lunch as a special treat for the last day of term. Of course, you may still send in additional food with your child if you wish.
19.01.2022 What a fabulous surprise we had today. We have a visit from Tanya from Tennis NSW and Mudgee tennis coach Fernando. They brought with them some new tennis racquets for our kindergarten students and played lots of fun games with the junior class. To make it even better, all students participated in a ZOOM with tennis champion Todd Woodbridge. The senior students had some amazing questions to ask him! We got to see some of his special trophies from Wimbledon and Olympic medals too. Watch out for a snippet in the Mudgee Guardian soon!
19.01.2022 We are coming to the end of the current school planning cycle and are about to embark on the development of a new 4-year school plan (along with all schools in NSW). School is a partnership between students, parents, staff and the community, and as such welcomes a voice from all stakeholders. Students will be asked to complete questionnaires at school over the coming weeks to gain an insight into their voice. Parents are also asked to do the same. Your opinions and suggestions help us shape the direction of our school and make decisions for the future. A simple questionnaire was attached to the newsletter yesterday. I would appreciate its completion and return by each family before the end of this term to enable me to evaluate suggestions and facilitate consideration of parent voice in the development of the new plan.
19.01.2022 Just a reminder for students to be completing their home reading record, (a small reward will be given to all students who bring in their completed records at the end of this term), and regularly changing their home reader books. Daily reading at home is so very important to improve skills in reading and comprehension. Being able to read well is a lifelong skill and we actively encourage reading for pleasure every day at school.
16.01.2022 This Friday is the last day for students to add books to their challenge list online. The books for students in the junior class have been added by Mrs Newham but students in years 3 to 6 are expected to add their own. Students can add books that they have been reading at home as well as those they have read at school. Students in the senior class are given time in class to add to their list but I would encourage them to check books read at home to make sure they reach their allocated requirement for completion.
16.01.2022 Our student of the week for week 1 is Holly Webb. Holly has made fabulous growth in her reading so far this year. She has set herself a personal goal for the end of this term and we can’t wait to see her achieve it!
16.01.2022 The book fair has officially finished and been packed up. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed and bought something. Our final amount spent was a HUGE $1232 which means Mrs Newham is now able to choose new books from Scholastic for the library to the value of $400. Fantastic!
15.01.2022 This week is National Child Protection week in Australia. Child protection education is a mandatory component of the syllabus and is revisited every year in all schools. This week we have the opportunity to reflect a little further. Both classes will be looking at online safety this week. From a very young age, students have access to a wide variety of online applications including ipad apps, gaming, websites, youtube clips and mobile phones. It is important they understand h...ow to remain safe when accessing this multimedia. Students in the junior class will participate in a variety of discussions and activities as a whole class which look at how to keep safe when playing games online. Students in the senior class will be participating in an online Adobe connect session on Wednesday examining online safety, be an eSafe kid, organised by the eSafety Commissioner. See more
15.01.2022 I have received an email today from the Deputy Secretary regarding updated information for schools in light of current health advice. These changes will come into effect from term 4. I am sending home today an ‘advice for families’ form and have highlighted the areas which are particularly relevant to our school and students. Please take time to read the document, especially the highlighted sections. Key points to note:... *Parents are still unable to be onsite at school unless for a specific meeting in regards to a serious matter P&C meetings must be online (ZOOM) *Kindergarten orientation (Little Lues) can resume in term 4 for students enrolling into Kindergarten at Lue PS in 2021. *Year 7 orientations can now take place (each high school decides how to do this) *External day excursions can now take place *Year 6 farewell can go ahead with a COVID safe plan in place *At this stage, we will not be able to host our traditional Christmas event but will keep you updated. *There are very specific guidelines and requirements for students presenting with even very mild symptoms or even seasonal allergy type symptoms I understand this may seem excessive and pointless for some but we have to follow the directed protocols and current policy This is a very fluid situation and we are receiving advice about protocols every day so if there are any further changes in the situation, I will inform all parents immediately. Please contact me if you have any further queries.
15.01.2022 Pizza lunch today was yummy. Thank you so much to our wonderful Mrs Butler who popped in before the students arrived at school, (to avoid contact with students - COVID safety), and dropped off a box full of yummy jelly cups for everyone. You're a star Mrs B!
15.01.2022 Students took home their trees last Friday. They have been asked not to move them too much for at least a week. This week students will have their final Qigong session. My thanks to Philippe Tot for providing this unique experience for our students.
15.01.2022 The Lue Hotel has organised a Christmas raffle which will be drawn on 19th December. All proceeds from the raffle will go to the Lue PS P&C - what a wonderful gesture! Those funds will go to support our students in so many ways next year. The prize is a wheelbarrow full of Christmas goodies, toys, food, champagne and even the wheelbarrow itself - something for everyone. Raffle tickets were sent home with all students last Friday. They cost $2 each or 3 for $5. Once tickets have been sold, please return the ticket stubs and money to school and a new book of tickets will be sent home.
14.01.2022 A huge thank you to MarieClare, Alison and Montanah from Surf Lifesaving NSW who came to our school this morning for the Beach to Bush water safety program. The students were really interested in hearing all about how to stay safe around water. Some great messages to share!

12.01.2022 Hard to believe it's the end of term 3 already. Congratulations to our Term 3 awards winners - Tyler, Holly, Aliza, Lucien, Brantley and Chayse (absent), well deserved awards!
12.01.2022 Finally it’s here! Friday is the day. The students have been waiting for the ZOOM to happen for a while now due to changes in its availability which were beyond our control. They have lots of interesting questions ready to ask him and put him on the spot! Dr Karl Kruszelnicki is one of Australia’s 100 National Living Treasures with a media career spanning more than 30 years. He has authored 45 books to date with more on the way. His accolades range from the Ig Nobel Prize ...from Harvard University for his ground-breaking research into belly button fluff and why it is almost always blue, to the UNESCO Kalinga Prize for popularisation of science. He was also one of the first Australian Apple Masters, of which there are only 100 worldwide. His enthusiasm for science is totally infectious and no one is better able to convey the excitement and wonder of it all than Dr Karl Kruszelnicki. I wonder if he will be stumped by a question from one of our little superstars! Watch this space See more

10.01.2022 Only two more sleeps until we see students back at school. Don’t forget there’s no pupil free day in term 4. Students return in summer uniform please, (royal blue polo with logo, navy shorts - girls may wear Lue school dresses), on Monday 12th October.
10.01.2022 COVID update Due to heightened restrictions directed by the Department of Education NSW relating to COVID, any students presenting to school with even the mildest of symptoms, (cough, runny nose, sore throat etc), are to be sent home and will be required to have a COVID test, the results of which need to be made available to school before the student can return to school. I truly appreciate everyones efforts in supporting us. If your child is at all unwell, even with mild symptoms, please keep them at home.

04.01.2022 On Wednesday, all students will participate in a Beach to Bush workshop. The program began as a result of research which highlighted that 50% of people rescued from the surf live more than 50km from the beach. Since 1994 the enthusiastic and interactive volunteer lifesavers from Surf Lifesaving NSW have been visiting schools in rural and remote areas of NSW and the ACT to educate primary aged students about beach and water safety. So far, they have delivered their message to... 257,586 students and 1,853 schools. The one-hour presentation will focus on beach and water safety. Students will learn about general beach safety, sun safety, rips and waves, sea creatures, basic first aid, rescues and getting help from a lifeguard. They will be presented with an award certificate to recognise their acquired learning outcomes after successfully participating in the program. See more
04.01.2022 Thank you Jacqui from Impact Environmental for coming out to chat with the students yesterday about sustainability practices. We learned all about what happens to our rubbish after it has been collected and how to improve the recycling habits that we have started to develop.
03.01.2022 Please make sure all stuednts have a refillable drink bottle at school The weather is very warm at the moment and students really need to stay hydrated. Heat stress can be a serious health problem. The best way for them to do this with minimal distractions during lessons, is to have a bottle on their desk that they can sip at throughout the day - refilling it at recess and lunch.
03.01.2022 Parent Questionnaires We are coming to the end of the current school planning cycle and are about to embark on the development of a new 4-year school plan (along with all schools in NSW). If you would like another copy of the questionnaire, please let me know.
