17.01.2022 Hi. My name is Lyn Ahmat. I’m excited to be participating in the Plastic Boutique Project this year. The alarming signs of Climate Change is upon us and we eac...h need to act to reduce waste and clean up our beautiful coastline. Plastic Boutique brings awareness to this by using marine debris and recycled plastic to create beautiful art pieces. I have begun creating a wall art piece that is built by collecting and using these recycled plastics and I have found it exciting and challenging to be working with a new medium. I am amazed at the patina of sea-worn old coloured plastics, and their unusual shapes and profiles. We will be holding workshops in the next coming months, and I look forward to working with community and children to facilitate wall art workshops using these recycled plastics Here is an example of my work in acrylics after my artist in residence experience at Hamilton Island Art Gallery "Sweep of Cats Eye Beach" Acrylic and Mixed Media On Canvas Creation Date: January 03 2019 Location: Hamilton Island Art Gallery Lyn Laver-Ahmat
