25.01.2022 Weve been busy learning about Australian Animals for the last couple of weeks. We have learnt how they move and what sounds that they make, and we learnt that some of them carry their babies in pouches! We also have lot of little stations set up where we can practice our fine motor skills to get us ready to hold a pencil when we go to big school.

25.01.2022 10 years ago today I started Family Daycare in my home. Thank you to all the many families that have joined me on this journey.10 years ago today I started Family Daycare in my home. Thank you to all the many families that have joined me on this journey.

24.01.2022 Weve been busy here! The rain is finally here and we have once again got some green grass to play on. We can even do some planting to make pretty gardens. We have been looking at different ways to be sustainable, and one of the ways we have put into play is to make plant pots out of something that would otherwise be put into the bin. As you can see - milk bottles make great plant pots!

24.01.2022 Welcome to Autumn everyone! How the year is flying by! We are welcoming the lovely weather at the moment, and its been a great opportunity to go outside and do things there. Its amazing the things you can find when you go outside. The week, when we havent been dancing, riding bikes (and learning to pedal on our own), or washing, we went out and found a bird skeleton.

24.01.2022 DONT JUST UNENROL YOUR CHILDREN FROM THEIR EARLY EDUCATION AND CARE CENTRES PLEASE !!!! There is so much uncertainty in the world at the moment and so many people are losing their jobs, please dont add your childs educators to that list. I am NOT saying you should send them if you dont feel comfortable. What I am saying is DONT UNENROL THEM.... Talk to your centre first. There are a number of things in place from the government to help families and to stop centres from going bankrupt but these measures are only helpful if the children STAY ENROLLED. Firstly, if you or your partner has lost their job or had your wages cut, you can go on to your mygov page and apply for temporary financial hardship. This means that the government will pay your childcare fees in FULL for 13 weeks. The government has also committed to paying the CCS portion of the fees in the event that the centres do go in to lock down. What this means for centres is that we can keep paying our educators, our rent, etc etc etc. It means that at the end of all of this, there will be centres to send your children to. I implore you, please speak to your centre director and find out your options, BEFORE just pulling your children out.

21.01.2022 Theres still lots to play with indoors and outdoors in winter. We play alone and we play together. We are all special and unique and we all enjoy doing different things.

19.01.2022 Now that fathers day is over, we can share some pictures of the fathers day gifts in the making. Each child decorated a special coffee mug for their special dad, and they looked wonderful! Weve been enjoying the outdoors now that the weather is so pleasant. We have been driving the bikes and creating traffic jams, and practicing up and down on the see saw. And in the middle of all the playing and learning, we stopped and realised that there were green leaves on the tree!

18.01.2022 Wow! Another season is nearly upon us! And even better is the rain that we have had today! Let us hope that we get a lot more of that wonderful water! We have been busy here as usual. We have been spending the last couple of weeks busy with out fathers day preparation (and its top secret so we cant share any pictures yet). Last year we decorated a coffee mug for each of our dads, and this year is something different and just as special! We have been busy in the a...rt and craft corner as well. We have been making all sorts of different pictures for the walls and for our families, and for taking home. In our craft corner, we have plenty of paper, glue, feathers, cupcake cases, ribbon, paddlepop sticks, confetti and all sorts of other things. We have our own little table and chairs and we know that we can go in there and make something to take home but when we have finished creating, we know that we have to tidy up after ourselves. When we are not busy inside with the craft or the toys, we have been enjoying the outside activities - trampoline, swings, cars and bikes to name a few. Some of us have discovered that we are really good at basketball and that is where we can often be found - throwing the ball through the hoop and then fetching it and doing it again. Weve got a lovely obstacle course set up in the front yard with balance beams, and tunnels, and stepping blocks all set up for us to practice our gross motor skills and balancing skills. If you are interested in coming and having a look at what we have to do here - because there is a lot that I just cant fit onto a single post on Facebook - then please do not hesitate to contact me. Have a great day and I hope that all our dads have a wonderful day on Sunday!.

18.01.2022 From making gingerbread houses so sewing our own library bags, crafting unique creations and cooling off in the water - lots has been happening this week.

14.01.2022 I found this letter written by a principle and I think that it is worthwhile reading and remembering: I would like to share some thoughts with you. You might be inclined to create a minute-by-minute timetable for your children. You may have high hopes of hours of learning, including online activities, science experiments, and book reports. You will plan to limit technology until everything is done!... But these are the things I want you to consider Our children are just as scared as we are right now. Our children not only hear everything going on around them, but they feel our constant tension and anxiety. They have never experienced anything like this before. Although the idea of being off school for weeks on end sounds exciting for some, they are probably picturing a fun time like the summer holidays, not the reality of being trapped at home and not seeing their friends. Over the coming weeks, you may see an increase in behavior issues with your children. Whether its anxiety, or anger, or protests that they cant do normal things it will happen. You will potentially see more meltdowns, tantrums, and oppositional behavior. This is normal and expected under these circumstances. What children need right now is to feel comforted and loved. To feel like it is all going to be okay. That might mean that you need to tear up your perfect timetable and focus on giving them lots of love and attention. I know this may be hard if you have the added pressure of trying to work at home with the children there. Please try to play outside and go on walks. Bake biscuits and paint pictures. Play board games and watch movies. Do a science experiment together or find virtual field trips of the zoo. Create a fitness circuit in your garden. Start a book and read together as a family. Snuggle under warm blankets and do nothing. Dont worry about them regressing in school. Every single child is in this boat and they all will be okay. When we are back in the classroom, we will focus on their learning and meet their educational needs. Teachers are experts at this! Dont pick fights with your children because they dont want to do any activities. Dont scream at your children for not following the timetable. Dont insist on two hours of learning time if they are resisting it. See if you can make learning fun through their play. If I can leave you with one thing, it is this: at the end of all of this, their mental health will be far more important than their academic skills. How they felt during this time will stay with them long after the memory of what they did during these weeks is gone. So keep that in mind, every single day. Take care and stay safe. Lyndell

06.01.2022 Eight is such a wonderful number. We watched number 8 on Numtums, and we made an Octopus with eight legs, which we numbered and added stickers to. And another number to think about is 10. There is less than 10 weeks until Christmas, and after Christmas is the New Year. If you are interested in family daycare, now is the time to think about doing research and putting in an application form for care for next year. Spots are filling fast for 2019 so get in quickly!

06.01.2022 These school holidays have been super busy! Weve been inside and outside and out and about. With the nice bit of rain that we had, we had one young chap be a mower man, we went to the library then the park and read our books on the playground equipment. We made our own pizzas (and ate them too). We decorated Easter baskets and then we had an Easter egg hunt at a park! And this is just some of the things that we have been busy doing! Why not come and have a look at what is here for both young and old? Babies from 3 months are welcome to come and join in the fun - theres plenty to do!

04.01.2022 Christmas is well on the way and we have been busy with all different activities both inside and out. We have been making and decorating Christmas trees and using triangles to make a giant window tree. Hand and foot prints make lovely reindeers, and stamps on paper will be used to wrap our wonderful Christmas gifts (which you wont get to see until after Christmas)! We still find time to play with bubbles and cool off in the mini pools (very well supervised of course). Bikes and balls and sensory play are always popular and always available for the kids to participate in. If your little cherub is interested in joining in on the fun and games, please contact me ASAP on 0488 067 997 as spaces for next year are filling fast!

04.01.2022 Playdough day today. Its lovely outside.

04.01.2022 New Year is here already! How the time has flown past. Last year we started off being able to do water play (and had a great time doing it too) and we finished with Emergency Level Water Restrictions. Weve learnt how to reduce our water usage and we have learnt about water recycling and how to keep cool without splashing in water. We have spent time learning about chemical reactions and what happens when you mix Bi-Carb and Vinegar (food colouring is optional) or soft d...rink and Mentos. Weve enjoyed balloon games inside in the air-conditioning and if you are interested in finding out more about what happens, call me on 0488 067 997. Lyndell.

02.01.2022 Wow the weather has really turned fast this year! What ever happened to Autumn and the changing of the leaves? We have been busy here getting ready for Mothers Day, so theres no pictures yet of what we have been busy creating. This is a picture of what we did last year, and later we can post something from this year. Enjoy and to all the mums out there - HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

01.01.2022 School holidays have been fun! Lots of things to do and games to play. Art and craft activities are on display in the front yard for Jumpers and Jazz. This years theme is Dulcet, and weve chosen to demonstrate as sweet sounds - so we have LOTS of lollies and a gingerbread house in the front yard. Come and have a look and be amazed at the talents of the children!
