25.01.2022 So close, yet still so far! That would the title of my book about our laser engraver. For those who have been following this saga, it is now on hold in Dallas, Texas. This is where our good friends Kurtis & Liz live who have so kindly offered to take delivery of it for us and then post it to us here in Australia. It's bizarre really, but it is so much quicker to get something sent from a HK warehouse to the US than it is to us yet we are logistically so much closer!!! Anyway, almost there. 23.01.2022 This is the empty spot on my desk where a laser engraver should be sitting & operating! We have had nothing but trouble trying to obtain a laser engraver. After our previous laser engraver died, we found one at Ali Express but then on top of the item cost & shipping calculated to our address in Australia, they then wanted to charge us another $50 remote shipping fee!! We are closer to them than the US is!!! So we cancelled that order (still waiting for our money back) & we...nt to Gear Best. Well, they were unable ship that product to the chosen country (ie: Australia)! So, thanks to @kidflash1978 who has kindly allowed us to have it sent to him in Texas & then we were to pay the postage over to Australia. However... Gear Best don't seem to like that idea & have cancelled the order (TWICE) & refunded us the money straight away. I have now lodged a formal "enquiry", so we will see what happens in the next couple of days! Please pray for us that we can finally get our laser engraver & fulfill our orders from our very patient customers!! (Rant over!!) Patricia. See more

23.01.2022 Well my first big reproduction job. I've been wanting to do one of these jobs for a while. There are 8 of these newells to do. I love the challenge of making them all the same and that it's more traditional style of turning that really tests your tool work. So I've got my measuring stick marked and my template ready to go. It's just an honest machine it doesn't have Sat Nav, Bluetooth it hasn't got Wi-Fi connectivity or laser guided. 13.01.2022 Well, today we said our final goodbyes to "Cookie". Much loved family pet, first to My brother's family for 6+ years, and then she came to live her twilight year(s) in the country with us. As it turned out we only had her with us for not even a year, but she had a spoiled, luxurious last 10 months & was well loved by all of us, especially Mackellar. Photo #2 is Angie, our greyhound who Mackellar has committed to walking or exercising each day in August for 30mins in order to raise money for Australian Guide Dogs Association. 05.01.2022 I had a lot of fun turning this little family. They were for a friend at my other job. She absolutely loves mushrooms. When l gave them to her she was so excited. After having had a pretty average week this cheered her up. 04.01.2022 Very frustrating...This are just some of the jobs being held up, some for months, waiting for engraving!!! Our laser engraver that we ordered middle of July, arrived in Sydney on 27 August. 2 weeks later, on 10 September it was sent to PERTH (the other side of Australia!!) for customs processing. All because Australian Customs & Australia Post did not realise that online shopping would double with everyone stuck at home!! It's not rocket science people. 01.01.2022 Angus had lunch with his mum and she gave him this newspaper article from March 1994, that she had found when going through some old boxes. We decided to do a recreation of the photo... the man is the same person, in the same jacket & standing at the same lathe (just one of a few now!) - they are just all "a little bit" older!! 1994 to 2020. Angus has changed in appearance somewhat since that 22 year old young man, but his value, work ethic & attention to detail & quality are still present. 01.01.2022 So I checked the tracking yesterday for our laser engraver & it said it was delivered to our local post office. Yay!!! We got the mail in the afternoon & as you can see, this is NOT a laser engraver. Not even close!! The tracking number was correct, however the product inside... To say we are ticked, is an understatement!!
