21.01.2022 Clamshell EPP - A Tutorial Who else loves the look of clamshells, but has no idea how to sew them or where to start? Maybe you’ve seen them done with needle turn appliqué, but that’s really not your thing. Well that’s ok because its not mine either. I racked my brain for ideas on how to use up a few precious scraps of liberty Betsy print I had. Then I remembered how nuts it drives me when my bookmark is always slipping or falling out of my book when it is in my bag and just like that, the liberty non-slip elastic bookmark was born and all my bookmark woes solved. 19.01.2022 It’s hard to believe it’s Mid December already, and only 10 days until christmas. It’s been a crazy year and I’ve already been late introducing my newest pattern by a few weeks. I released this sweet little patchwork christmas stocking back at the start of November, when I was full of christmas sewing ideas and inspiration. 18.01.2022 This afternoon, I’m joining @mollyandmama and @stitchingnotes for some #sipteaandepp . Here is a small snippet of some of the basic supplies I like to use as well as some basted diamonds I’m using for my Current #eppproject I like to use pre cut papers for my EPP projects as I really just don’t have the time to cut out templates, esp. for this quilt with requires a lot. You may also notice that I thread baste through the papers, yes through the papers! (don’t w...orry they get cut out later, hence the big roll of cheap red thread)I find this super quick and easy and I really enjoy the process. It’s also a must for me when I’m working on a big project as I find the paper just fall out after the quilt as been handled a lot (including being handled by little people). I like to hold my papers in place with my fabric for basting with mini binding clips. If you don’t have these a large paper clip works just as well. When I’m sewing my pieces together I like to use #gutermann polyester thread. I find it’s really strong and holds up well with all the wear and tear quilts get. My favourite EPP needles to sew with are size 11 milliners needles by Sue Daley. The are nice, thin and fine and perfect for small shapes and lightweight fabric, as is my super bob thread which is very fine and strong and helps keep your stitches hidden.
