08.01.2022 Iyengar Yoga is short for hatha yoga. It is probably the most widely recognised hatha yoga technique in the world. BKS Iyengar is responsible for much of the modern understanding of hatha yoga as well as the development of the use of yoga props as an aid and support for students.... 04.01.2022 Bernie Anthony Peterson I have been teaching yoga for 37 years and I am the Director of Macquarie Yoga Centre at Carlingford. I also teach at Macquarie University Aquatic Centre (MAQA) and classes for Fairfield council. Over the years I have taught people of all ages, experience and ability. I had the pleasure of having a season with Sydney FC soccer team and run courses for Australian woman water polo and basketball players. I had numerous encounters with various sporting cl...ubs, such as Australian tri-athletes, Bankstown Athletic Club, high level swimming clubs and Ian Thorp and also high elite tennis players. Due to my martial arts background (black belt in Taekwondo and karate) I have taught many martial artists from white belt to high ranking black belt. I had time with being involved with high intensity kickboxing clubs bringing out the best quality in all of them. Apart from that, I have also taught school programs, teaching children in their own school environments for sports and P.E. such as Trinity Grammar, Macquarie University Sporting Association (MAQA) for athletes' and rugby players, Pennant Hills High School, Northmead High School and Waitara Primary School. I also run a 9 week course on Thursday afternoon, 4:15pm to 5:15pm for children who are stressed out, have lack of confidence in themselves and for girls that have period problems. I have also run a weekend course for midwifes at Westmead Hospital. My latest highlight is teaching people over 50 years of age. I have designed a 9 week course which is accommodating for people that are unfamiliar with yoga and who do not feel comfortable in a normal yoga session. Through the course it enables people to experience modified yoga, gentle but yet active, which give benefit in these areas: will become stress free, more energized, helps relieves aches and pains enabling the practitioner to experience a lovely feeling of wellbeing. I feel happy to be lifting people out of there now experience, bringing them back into balance and leaving the class open and free. I am also the creator of Yoga Boot camp to the Max. Which is 400 push ups, 2000 abs and 60 poses- asanas in 1 hour and 10 min. I started my journey with karate and kick boxing but always were into alternative concepts of thoughts. I met Australia’s no 1 yoga practitioner of that time, his name was Shandour Remete. When I saw the agility, flexibility and strength in his body I desired to have the same. And that started my 10 years apprenticeship and dedication into yoga which created a strong foundation of thought and strength within me. I teach Hatha yoga based on the Iyengar system which is about creating balance, harmony and wellbeing. My principal of thought QUALITY is never an accident. It is always a result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skilful execution: It is always a choice of many alternatives.
