19.01.2022 The sleeve gastrectomy (SG) is a restrictive weight-loss operation. The outside part of the stomach is removed and the shape of the stomach is changed from a sac to a long narrow tube. The gastric volume is reduced from approximately 2 Liters to 100 mL. Furthermore, the outside part of the stomach which produces the hunger hormone ghrelin is removed, resulting in an initial profound loss of appetite.
