25.01.2022 How exciting!! Prints have arrived from Image Science today, all ready to be framed this week (the hard graft begins) and the exhibition opening day on the 11th Sept at Gallery ONE88 Fine Arts. Can't wait
25.01.2022 I seem to start most posts for Macrographia with "I know it's been a while"... But now seems a good time to get going again. I'd like to say I'll post an image a day as we get through these surreal times, but I'm never that reliable when it comes to FB. I thought I would start with some of the places I've been - a bit of a virtual travelogue. I'm not religious, my primary belief is that everyone has the right to their own religion, I just hope they respect my lack of it as I respect theirs. That said, this image, taken in Rome, seems so poignant for Italy now...
25.01.2022 Some colour for today - Mount Annan Botanic Gardens, multiple exposure
23.01.2022 A little abstraction for the day - "See the Forest in the Trees" (Daintree)
22.01.2022 My new series: an evolution of my multiple exposure photography. It has been an interesting experience to find I am moving away from digital layering and textures, to shooting in camera. The themes are a development of those I explore in Floracopia. The beautiful cycle of life in nature. Every moment changing, moving, breathing, rebirthing. I hope that you see in them the passing of time, the chaos and the peace, that I see in creating them.... Will I keep the title? I don't know - a work in progress! "Gather ye rosebuds while ye may, Old Time is still a-flying; And this same flower that smiles today Tomorrow will be dying." - R Herrick
21.01.2022 Looking into the ripples of time. One of the new multiple exposures from the series "Between the seasons in a young land". Tracking at the changes in landscape through the shaping of the elements and the passage of time.
21.01.2022 Luminous waves on the midnight ocean.
20.01.2022 Clouds in Flight. For the last day of my Seeking Solace exhibition, it seems appropriate to go with another cloudscape. This one from a flight between Sydney and Melbourne. This year has been full of dark times, chaos and challenges. To have been privileged to have had such a successful exhibition with such positive feedback has been an incredible lift to me. Not least because it is such an appropriate exhibition for my life right now.... Never has it been more important to simply sit, meditate and find the space that is the gap between the sea and the sky, the horizon and forever. To my wonderful family and friends who has supported me through everything. This meditation is for you!
18.01.2022 Hi all, really biting the bullet this year. My entry for Lens Culture is the most personal series I have ever created. It may not look like it at first glance, but these abstract multiple exposures are all about the chaotic universe, emotions and mental state that come from living with anxiety and depression. These are the way I hold my focus and find myself again. Enjoy.
18.01.2022 Decomposition - from the series "Farewell to Wombats Hollow"
17.01.2022 Well past time for some still life - my first real love in photographic art. I always swing between detailed, complex, motion orientated still life (contradiction as it seems) and clean minimalism. Easy to tell which these are (well except for that very last one...) Lots of my favourite themes of nature, decay, and re-purposing.
17.01.2022 The amazing, gnarled and evocative birch trees in Iceland were something I wanted to focus on with my multiple exposure series. So when my Mk III died, and with it my ability to take in-camera multiple exposures, I was shattered. Refusing to give up though, I did my best to shoot images that would enable me to go back to my early digital layering techniques, post shoot. The effect is different to the in-camera results, but it still achieves the story I wanted to tell, and I love them just as much.
16.01.2022 Floracopia in progress: this arrangement was created for the current exhibition at Gallery ONE88 Fine Arts. It will remain on display for the full two weeks to show how the beautiful flowers and foliage age over that time and how I add new flowers throughout the time to create the transformative and transitional images for the series
16.01.2022 There are a few images from my latest holiday I hope to work with as abstract seascapes. But as I ponder which ones and how and what I think they might become, here's a seascape from the Houtman Albrohlos Islands.
15.01.2022 After a long hiatus, the series that have come out of my trip to Iceland, Corsica and Italy are starting emerge from their shells :) Here is a sneak peak from the series entitled "Not Just Black and White", an examination of the contrast between monochrome and colour in the same landscape images. With just a little focus on conservation and the environment, as you might expect. More from the abstract multiple exposures and derelict structures later!
15.01.2022 Happy Spring everyone! May it be filled with flowers. Only a week until Floracopia opens at Gallery ONE88 Fine Arts.

12.01.2022 Happy festive season to everyone. Have a wonderful time with much love, friendship and enjoyment.... ...And some quiet time for meditation - by the beach, the backyard, the mountains, or where ever you find peace.

So while I was not watching Time, its winding fingers, Wrapped around her slender frame And she, weighed down by Years she would not live, Became the memory of Spring And the shadow of future branches Reaching to a sky She could not see And the Universe closed itself about her As if she had never been A bud upon a tree In darkness Flowering Still. 07.01.2022 From "My Memory of Wings" - What was and yet will be...
07.01.2022 Winter is coming... some trippy ice in Iceland
07.01.2022 And the complete first image.. Additional flowers and bark were added as a final process, as the original base was not symmetrical, so that one shot was all that was necessary to fill the frame.
07.01.2022 The Post-Mechanic. I was forced to cancel the last of my exhibitions for this year. It's been such difficult time, and so busy. But here is one of the pieces I was intending to show. I do love deconstructing the narrative of objects. My aim for the next 6 months or so is to work on an extremely personal series that explores the challenges we have experienced as a family.
07.01.2022 Printed, framed and ready to be shipped to Brunswick Street Gallery for Emerge: Third Edition. So long as I can get them there on time... It's been so crazy! Where have the days gone?
07.01.2022 More and more I am finding pleasure in simply photographing flowers. For a few months now I have been taking images and not even processing them, I transfer them onto the computer and don't look at them. A visit to the most amazing fuschia garden has changed that. They were so delicate, and as they swayed in the breeze, seemed just like dancers. Hence this series, a mix of single images and multiple exposures, capturing "the Dancers in the Garden".
07.01.2022 Coming soon! Hope to see you there :)
06.01.2022 Time to get excited - waiting for exhibition opening #braemargallery #seaandsky
05.01.2022 Meditating on the cloud horizon - Seeking Solace still on at the Braemar Gallery this weekend. Such a special exhibition for me, finding finding peace amidst chaos. #braemargallery #bluemountainsculturalcentre #cloudscape #photography
