22.01.2022 The good old days! Having surfed the Margaret Region since the 1970s, Jeff and his brother David have a deep connection to the ocean and the community of surfing pioneers who first tackled those now world-famous breaks. It’s the laid-back lifestyle of the South West that inspired Jeff Burch to create MadFish wines back in 1992. The MadFish wine range to us is wild, coastal and pure and it is all these elements that you’ll find yourself immersed in when visiting our home in the Margaret River region.

21.01.2022 It's wine o'clock somewhere. Right?

21.01.2022 Imported to Australia by wine pioneer James Busby in 1832, Cabernet Sauvignon is the king of Margaret River wine region. Most great Cabernet in the world is grown with a maritime influence, close to the ocean where you have a beautiful sea breeze all year around. But Margaret River also has a Mediterranean climate where we have that warm dry summer and a beautiful long dry season perfect for growing premium quality Cabernet.

20.01.2022 It's raining wine!

19.01.2022 - Where the ocean meets land - Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend!

18.01.2022 From Cape Naturaliste in the north to Cape Leeuwin in the south, you’ll find 130km of pristine coast, deserted beaches and 75 surf breaks. Having a beach or a break pretty much to yourself isn’t a dream here, it’s a reality.

16.01.2022 Spring in the vineyards is oh, so beautiful The vines are greening up as shoots and buds begin to grow. The weather is warming up. The birds are singing. The air is soft. With no irrigation needed, no grapes to harvest and composting already done, spring must be the season when winemakers can just sit back and relax, right? Wrong! Spring is the time when everybody is working like Trojans and biting their nails. This is because vineyard success is really dependent upon sever...al things that happen in this season. One of these is pruning those pretty green shoots you see peeking out of the vines. Timing of shoot-thinning is critical in order to shape perfect vines. Then comes leaf pulling. Quite time consuming and weather dependant. Another task is topping or hedging, when longer shoots are cut back so that all are uniform. Aside from prettifying the vineyard, this is beneficial for vine growth and the grape harvest. Even with all this work, there is no doubt that our winemakers love spring! It is the moment of regeneration when the new vintage begins to express itself

15.01.2022 A taste of the South West... Caves Road is a 111 kilometre long scenic route that connects Busselton with Augusta. Parts of the road run through a beautiful forest of Karri Gum trees. They are one of the tallest in the world, and although they look as planted by human hands, this forest is one of the many magnificent creations of Mother Nature. A magical place that seems to come straight out of a fairy tale

15.01.2022 Weekend ready! We’re expecting incredible weather this weekend down south. Wine will be flowing, sun will be shining, you know the drill

08.01.2022 MadFish Gold Turtle Semillon Sauvignon Blanc is bright pale-gold in the glass and has vibrant and expressive aromas of tropical fruit, citrus zest, fresh pea straw and thyme flowers. An exquisite balance on the palate of crisp acidity and full flavour reinforces the primary aromatics, with richer elements of lemon curd and sweet garden herbs emerging before a clean and satisfying finish. Refreshing and enjoyable but with intriguing texture and underlying complexity, the wine can be savoured on many levels.

08.01.2022 Located just a 10min drive from the MadFish cellar door, Gracetown is a pretty spot and a world-class surfing destination. The hills surrounding the bay protect the beach from strong winds, making it the perfect spot to watch the sunset after a long day exploring the region.
