24.01.2022 MDAs technology saves lives. There was an accident at the Kinneret beach, but thankfully MDA’s call center received a live location and images through #NextGeneration911 technology. MDA’s CAD System automatically located the nearest resources and 10 minutes before the ambulance they arrived by boat to treat the victims. www.magendavidadom.com.au

The Health Ministry in Israel reported that 1,069 people tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the number of active patients to 9,422, also the highest the figure has been in awhile. 11.01.2022 Shabbat Shalom! Here in Victoria, for the first time since March we have recorded consecutive days of 0 new cases and 0 new deaths. An incredible achievement as we start to return to a somewhat COVID normal life! In Israel the national death toll from the pandemic rose to 2,597. ... Out of the 9,639 patients currently battling the disease, 364 are in serious condition, with 159 connected to ventilators. Last Week MDA Teams Sampled 118,809 people, MDA is continuing to operate the Drive and Test facilities, whilst also carrying out testing in nursing homes and long term care facilities throughout the country. In addition, as needed, MDA teams will sample those who are homebound. To date, MDA sampled 4,689 travelers who returned to Israel from abroad at a special stand in Ben Gurion airport. Along with taking more 2,200,000 of samples for Coronavirus, MDA blood services continue to collect plasma from those who have recovered from the Coronavirus for the treatment of severely ill patients and the production of a passive vaccine. To date, those who have recovered from Coronavirus have donated approximately 10,470 plasma units. 3,178 units have been given to 1,589 Coronavirus patients in moderate and severe condition. www.magendavidadom.com.au

11.01.2022 Shabbat Shalom A ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian terror groups in the Gaza Strip came into effect at 2am Friday (Israel time), ending 11 days of intensive fighting. Since the beginning of "Guardian of the Walls" operations, 355 injured received medical treatment from MDA EMTs and Paramedics throughout the country, 10 killed from a direct hit, explosion blast or shrapnel and 2 people suffered critical injuries on their way to the bomb shelter and died from their ...wounds. 118 were injured from shrapnel, explosion blast, and shattered glass, 7 in severe condition ,13 in moderate condition, 98 in mild condition. 225 people were injured on their way to shelters. 252 people suffering from stress symptoms received medical assistance from MDA teams, some needed additional hospital medical care. At the riots across the country, MDA teams provided medical care to 196 people injured, a 56 year old man suffered from critical injuries to his head and died later from his wounds, 10 in severe condition, 30 in moderate condition, and 155 in mild condition. MDA remains on high level of alert and is in direct contact and coordination with the security systems. 07.01.2022 Last night at the Magen David Adom Australia Committee Meeting Joe Saltzman & John Sojka were awarded Life membership to Magen David Adom after their many years of volunteering & commitment to our organization. Both Joe & John have been involved in MDA for many years and have dedicated countless hours to helping raise funds & awareness for MDA. Eric Aufgang was also awarded life membership but was unfortunately unable to attend. We thank him for his many years of service to MDA.

Israel’s Coronavirus Cabinet decided on Monday to lift certain restrictions on the public, as part of a gradual reopening of the economy following weeks of full and partial lockdowns. ... The Cabinet ruled that students in the 5th and 6th grades will return to school on Nov. 24, and those in grades 11 and 12 on Dec 1. In addition, hotels in Eilat and the Dead Sea will reopen under certain health conditions. Now we stand at around 650 new cases daily, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the Cabinet. Magen David Adom announced on Thursday that since the beginning of the Coronavirus outbreak (February 24), MDA teams have sampled 2,458,867 people. MDA is continuing to operate the Drive and Test facilities, whilst also carrying out testing in nursing homes and long-term care facilities throughout the country. In addition, as needed, MDA teams will sample those who are homebound. To date, MDA sampled 4,960 travelers who returned to Israel from abroad at a special stand in Ben Gurion airport. MDA's 101 Emergency Call Centers also show a significant increase in citizen inquiries, which reached 11,285 calls a day this week, an increase of about 190% compared to a routine day.
