21.01.2022 The simple things

07.01.2022 It’s 34 degrees in Adelaide and 22 degrees in Goolwa at 8.30 pm tonight. It’s cool at Goolwa - come for a sea change and luxuriate in the cool breezes on maggies’ verandah.

03.01.2022 Great to Xmas down by the beach

16.12.2021 Interesting information for those beautiful winter walks on the beach

05.12.2021 Come and relax at maggies beachhouse over Christmas. Cockling is on at the beach. The sun lounges are waiting for you to while away some lazy hours. We've reduced our Christmas rental price to $300 per night and we sleep up to 8 people. Book at Harcourts or online at Stayz or at airbnb.

23.11.2021 Winter at Goolwa is beautiful. Wander the mist-strewn beaches, watch for whales, and then come back to a cosy house and a hot chocolate to read a good book or watch a movie.

14.11.2021 Visit the Coorong Coorong National Park, is just a few kilometers from Maggies Beach House. It is one of the quietest and unspoiled parts of SA. Take our Kayak and paddle past the Murray Mouth or simply go to Meningie and launch a Parnka Point. From there it is only a short paddle to Young Husband Peninsula and some of the biggest and densest shoals of cockles you are likely to see. The Coorong is of enormous cultural significance to the Ngarrindjeri people, with ancient mid...dens of shells revealing archaeological evidence of Aboriginal campsites over thousands of years. The distinctive landscape is an important breeding area for the Australian pelican and is a refuge for ducks, swans, cormorants, terns, grebes and numerous species of migratory birds. Take a virtual tour of the Coorong - just click on the link for some great 360 views. http://georama.com.au/coorong/

09.11.2021 Wooden Boat Festival 21 - 22nd of Feb 2015 The festival is held within the Goolwa Wharf Precinct every year. There is plenty to see and do with two days of both water and land events and the fantastic fireworks display from Hindmarsh Island Bridge on Saturday night. It`s two action filled days where you can; cruise on a paddle steamer, follow the pirate trail, indulge in regional food and wine. My favorite is the Paddle Steamer Oscar W. Over 100 in length, it weighs 83 tons.... The paddle steamer is of composite construction and was built from steel topsides and 3 inch Red Gum below. It can be booked for day cruises or even parties. 25.10.2021 Goolwa Cockle - season open Recently renamed the pipi, are harvested from the beach off of the Younghusband Peninsula and Goolwa.... Sand is removed by standing them in freshwater for at least 2 hours. They have a good meat to shell ratio, medium to strong flavour and firm texture. Harvest season is now open between 1st November to 31st May (can be varied on PIRSA fisheries instructions) Some of the best cockles are a short walk from our beach house. See more
