14.01.2022 DOG BOX in development! This new drama series tells the stories of Mahlee Smith, a 16 year old girl from the bush, and Jazzie Fazzah, an idealistic youth worker fresh from London who arrive on the same day at Longley Juvenile Justice Centre. We want to thank both Screen NSW and Screen Australia for recognising the potential for Dog Box, and coming on board with early development support. Rebecca Ingram, who brought the project to Magpie, has created a concept that offers a... visceral, adrenalin charged experience for viewers, while examining important questions around the minimum age for detention, and shining a light into the dark place of so called correctional institutions for children. Ingram said she is so thrilled to be working with producer Lois Randall, writers Kodie Bedford and David Caesar, and rapper Crystal Clyne (AKA Lady Lash), who have each brought unique experience, perspectives and passion to the project. Its an exciting mix. David Caesar says of the recent development process DOG BOX was a writers room firing on all cylinders, the environment was inclusive and respectful of all the participants ideas. Magpie Pictures looks forward to pitching DOG BOX to domestic and international markets in coming months, including at Screen Forever this week, and at Content London in December.
