24.01.2022 The Government has announced that the pay of over 400,000 public sector workers will be frozen for the next 12 months. This is an unforgivable attack on the tho...usands of frontline workers who continued working and keeping us safe during the #COVID19 crisis. Teachers, nurses, police, firefighters, health care workers, RMS staff, bus drivers, train drivers, security, Housing NSW and all frontline state government employees will miss out on the 2.5% wage increase they were expecting. This is a disgrace. HSU NSW NSW Nurses and Midwives' Association Police Association of NSW NSW Teachers Federation Fire Brigade Employees' Union (FBEU)
21.01.2022 Today is National #SorryDay - a day to honour our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, remember the sad and painful history of the #StolenGeneration and reflect on ways we can continue to right the wrongs of the past. Saying sorry is a start, but any meaningful apology must be followed by change. #NRW2020 #UluruStatement
21.01.2022 This Maitland drive-through COVID testing service will be bulk-billed and patients won't require a referral - just their Medicare card and identification.
19.01.2022 It's time for the Government to deliver on its election promises!
18.01.2022 I was delighted to be present today when the Topping Out Ceremony was conducted at the New Maitland Hospital site in Metford. This milestone, and the hospital i...tself, are achievements our entire community can be proud of. Thank you to the local and regional workers who have worked so hard to get construction to this stage, and thank you to the 20,000 people who signed a petition calling for the hospital to remain in public hands. The new hospital will be truly owned and operated by all of us, for all of us - as it should be. 16.01.2022 The NSW Liberals spent $2.7 billion on trains from South Korea that don't fit the tracks and tunnels. They spent $1.5 billion on ferries that don't fit under b...ridges. They've bought trams from Spain and France, and buses from Malaysia. Gladys Berejiklian and her colleagues have spent 9 years offshoring jobs and sending taxpayers' money overseas. And now she has the gall to blame our workers?

13.01.2022 Last night I moved the adoption of the Operational Plan which outlines how council will invest $179.5 million into our city in the next year. During these inter...esting economic times this is more important than ever. We highlighted that council is about providing services to the community. We will continue to invest in roads and capital works to the tune of $56 million. We also continue to provide Libraries, community halls, sporting facilities (including our new athletics facility) as well as MRAG- the best regional gallery in NSW. We have strengthened our rates hardship measures providing support to those who need it. See more
12.01.2022 Absolutely disgraceful.
08.01.2022 Many parents have contacted me in recent weeks about the #COVID19 restrictions that limited one parent spectator per child at community sporting events, and I h...ave made representations on their behalf to the Minister for Health. While today the Government has relaxed its stance, please remember that our sporting clubs and associations have been left with very limited time to adopt their #covidsafe plans. Social distancing for people who do not share the same household is still mandatory and may not be possible in all situations. It is also essential to adhere to the organisation's active COVIDSafe plan. Please be understanding of the hard-working volunteers and officials who have been given less than two days' notice and may not be able to adapt their plans in time for the weekend. In other announcements today: Weddings will soon allow bridal parties of no more than 20 people to take to the dance floor. Parent volunteers can return to schools in Term 4 Sport will return to pre-pandemic conditions School camps and excursions can resume Kindergarten orientations can begin from the start of term 4 and year 7 orientations from 11 November.
06.01.2022 Queenslanders returning to the state after this time will be required to self-fund a mandatory 14 days of hotel quarantine.
06.01.2022 The government continues to ignore the calls from desperate #tenants and #landlords who currently receive no assistance. NSW Labor is urgently calling for a Re...ntal Hardship Fund in response to the many calls for help we’ve received from renters and property owners alike. If you are affected, please email my office at [email protected] and help me lobby the government to help those in crisis due to #COVID19.
04.01.2022 NEW COVID-19 FINES NOW APPLY NSW Health and the NSW Police Force have issued a new Public Health Order relating to public gatherings and, specifically, those within private homes. The changed Orders state:... If there are more than 20 visitors at a home, every person will be held individually responsible for a breach of the public health order. NSW Police can issue on-the-spot fines of $1000 for an offence. In this situation, that could be $1000 per person. Other Orders governing visitors allowed at a residence remain as follows: Up to 20 visitors may visit another household at any one time. The total number of visitors includes adults and children. (A member of the household is not counted as a visitor.) There is no daily limit to visitors to your home, so long as you don’t have more than 20 visitors at any one time. You can have guests from any household so long as it does not exceed 20 visitors in total. An overnight stay as part of a visit to someone’s house is allowed. Remember: If you are over 70 or have a pre-existing medical condition, you should limit the number of visitors and take care at all times. As the home is a high transmission area, the NSW Chief Health Officer strongly recommends a COVID-Safe precautionary approach of having no more than 10 visitors at a time. For more information about what's permitted, and what isn't, visit https://www.nsw.gov.au//what-you-can-and-cant-do-under-rul
03.01.2022 Please sign and share this petition. It will only be open for three weeks, with the hope of getting 20,000 to spark a debate on the floor of Parliament.
02.01.2022 Fantastic win off the field to get our senior sportspeople back on the field! My NSW Labor colleagues and I have been pushing for this - it was not enough to pe...rmit the return of children's sport as so many junior teams rely on the financial assistance of their seniors. Adults and children alike can now look forward to a return to #sport from 1 July 2020.
