25.01.2022 Absolute goddess @lyannkearin On the weekend, I had the privilege of doing SO MANY beautiful womens makeup for the Food and Body Freedom Retreat at the most stunning location in Mount Tambourine It poured down raining all morning, but as soon as we started shooting, the mist started to lift and the sun started shining. @allessandiamontana you did an amazing job making this happen

23.01.2022 Natural vs. Neutral Often clients arent sure what the difference is. Im using this post and the previous post to explain. . Natural (this photo): Refers to the style of makeup. The no makeup makeup, I woke up like this kinda look. I used fine brush strokes to fill in my brows, you cant quite tell if Im wearing foundation or not, I opted for a light brown eyeshadow and popped on a couple of individual lashes. .... Neutral (previous post): Refers more to the colour palette used. Could be very natural or very glam, or anything in between. My previous post was more of a neutral glam look. I used full coverage foundation, contoured, filled in my brows almost completely and defined them with concealer, cut crease eyeshadow with a very not natural shimmer, and my fave strip lashes. . So basically, neutral and natural arent the same thing. A lot of people ask for natural makeup, but what they actually mean, is neutral (one of the hardest thing as a MUA is trying to translate what the client actually wants). But you could have a neutral natural makeup look, or a neutral glam makeup look . Are there any other differences you can notice between this post and my previous one?

The stunning @missberrybell Lately Ive had so many requests for just simple eye makeup + a classic winged liner and Im LOVING that vibe. I feel like its because people say I can never do winged liner on myself so can you do it. Its sometimes no easy to perfect a winged liner, will take you quite a few practices AND also know that some eye shapes are more challenging than others when it comes to winged liner. 19.01.2022 Swooning over todays bridal upstyle. We actually chose this style in order to combat the crazy wind and I love it. Also a side note, its taken a while, but I feel like Ive finally almost mastered taking photos of makeup...but photos of hair?? I can never do it justice! 16.01.2022 I posted this bridal glam in my stories, and it blew up so here it is on my feed I just wish the lighting was better! When taking a photo of makeup, oh my goodness, the lighting makes such a difference. Even the best makeup looks terribleeee in bad lighting (I wish I’d known this when I was a brand new MUA). I feel like maybe I should take a short course in photography just so I can take better photos of hair & makeup (is that even a thing?) 10.01.2022 Should I have a formal trial?? Answer: It’s completely up to you! Personally, only around 20% of my clients have formal trials and it really is worthwhile for some people. It’s an added expense and not for everyone (it’s also definitely not essential) but usually people are so glad that they did. Here are a few reasons why you may want to think about booking a trial with your chosen hair & makeup artist ... 1. You have had a bad experience with your hair & makeup in the past and want to know exactly what to expect on the day. It helps put your mind at ease knowing that the day will run smoothly. 2. If you are very unsure about your chosen hair & makeup look (or if you are tossing up between a few different looks). You’ll be able to wear that hair & makeup around for the day, and even try your dress on to make sure it works. 3. You don’t usually wear makeup and you’re unsure. This actually happens a lot where the client says at the trial, I don’t wear makeup, so I want something very minimal. Then they wear the makeup for a day, LOVE it and say, Actually, can I have my makeup just a little more dramatic for my formal . So, do you need to do a trial?? A trial definitely isn’t essential, especially if you’re on a budget. For some people it can make the lead up and day of the event so much more enjoyable and stress free!! No one can say for how long, but like many businesses, the announcement comes with mixed feelings and uncertainty. 07.01.2022 This gorgeous face could be one of the last ones we get to paint for the next few months. It honestly has been such a tough time for us, and a tough time for so so so many of our clients that have called/emailed to let us know their weddings/birthdays/events have been postponed. Lauras engagement party got cancelled last minute, so it was even more reason to get her makeup done in my opinion On the more POSITIVE side of social distancing, it means we have more time to hang out at home...and Id love to use that time to provide value online (like tutorials etc). If theres anything in particular that youd like to see, let me know

04.01.2022 Fresh, glowy makeup Quick chat: How is everyone holding up? On the Gold Coast, were super lucky at the moment, going about our lives and things are *sort of* back to normal (will things ever be normal?). Im feeling for all the places and people that are really struggling at the moment, are in lockdown or facing business and life stress. Its definitely not an easy time...at all. ... But I also love how much the community has come together to help each other out and stick together (virtually)

04.01.2022 Hi beautiful clients Weve had a LOT of cancellations over the past week. Weddings postponed , events cancelled, and a whole lot of uncertainty. . We want to look after both our clients and our hair & makeup artists, to keep everyone safe. .... On our end, we will continue to follow industry standard hygiene practices as per usual. This means lots of hand washing/sanitising, washing brushes and using disposables where possible. Like always, we also use 99% isopropyl alcohol to disinfect products and various items in our kit (so if youve ever wondered why everything smells a tad like vodka, thats why ). . We do ask that if you are not feeling well and you need to cancel your booking for this reason, please just let us know. We want to keep everyone at Makeup Palace healthy! . Lastly, if you do have a booking and have paid a deposit/pre-payment and you think your wedding/event may be postponed, give us a call/email/text ASAP as the earlier that you tell us, the easier it is for us to credit your deposit towards the later date. This has happened a lot over the last week and we are wanting to ensure the best outcomes for everyone. . Hoping everyone stays happy, healthy and calm

At the moment, were sorting through rescheduling bookings, transferring credits for deposits and pre-payments. Everyone has been super gracious and understanding even when we have been a little bit slow in getting through everyone, so thank you It is definitely a challenging time for everyone.
