22.01.2022 Australia has been devastated by fires which are ongoing and continue to threaten the lives of people and wildlife in this country. As a Muslim our duty is two fold:... 1. Assist in whatever way we can physically whether it be in fighting the fires if we are able and have the necessary training and equipment and support or at least to donate to reliable organisations involved. In between these two there is helping the affected and their families in whichever way is possible. 2. Making duaa for rain and specifically asking for forgiveness from Allah. The only way these fires will stop is by the order of Allah. It is also accepted that only rain will bring an end to the fires. Rain is something that is in the hands of Allah and He promises to send rain upon asking for forgiveness and repenting from sins as is clear in this verse of Qur'aan (and other verses and also in the ahadeeth): Al-Quran Surah 11 - Hud - Ayah 52 Translation: And O my people, seek forgiveness from your Lord, then turn to Him in repentance, so that He may release the heavens pouring upon you and may increase you in strength beside your strength, and do not turn away like sinners." Therefore I appeal to all the Muslims of Australia to turn to Allah in repentance and seeking forgiveness from Allah in addition to the physical assistance you are already giving. One can repent and ask for forgiveness from Allah in any language or ask using those duaas mentioned in the Qur'aan and sunnah some of which are mentioned below: Translation: There is no one worthy of worship besides you (O Allah), you are pure and without defect, I am certainly amongst the oppressors Transliteration: laa ilaaha illa anta subhaanak, innee kuntu minadh dhaalimeen Translation: We seek Allah's forgiveness and we repent to you (O Allah) Transliteration: Nastaghfirullah wa natuubu ilaik Please also resolve not to miss your salaah and if your zakaah is not paid please do so as not paying zakaah is a major reason for not receiving rains as is learnt from the following authentic hadeeth: Ibn Umar reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, Never do people withhold zakaah from their wealth but that a portion from the sky (rains) will be held back; were it not for the animals, it would never rain. Source: al-Mu’jam al-Kabir 13454 May Allah bless Australia with abundant and beneficial rains and relieve us of this calamity. Aameen Dr Feroz Osman-Latib *Maktab Association of South Australia* *Please share with your friends as a beneficial reminder*
