21.01.2022 Stage 1 - It’s so awesome when years of planning by community groups young and old can finally see the benefits of their dedication and determination.

20.01.2022 Hope to see you all there.

19.01.2022 We were lucky enough to have the Moolanda News Crew covering the unveiling of our new sign at Malanda Falls yesterday evening. Here's Caden and Amelie interviewing Cr Dave Bilney and Mayor Rod Marti. Great work guys!

18.01.2022 Hey Tablelands clubs! We've launched a 12-month pilot program of free online resources for clubs and community organisations to provide accurate and up-to-dat...e resources. The tools and skills will increase clubs' financial viability, compliance and volunteer sustainability. Join the local clubs and organisations already benefiting from the program by connecting with our Community Programs Officer on [email protected] or 1300 362 242.

17.01.2022 Counterfeit currency, Cairns. Cairns police are urging business owners to check any $50 notes after counterfeit currency was detected in the region this week. P...olice from the region’s Tactical Crime Squad recently uncovered the notes after conducting a routine traffic stop of a car. On first look the notes appear to be genuine, however on closer inspection they appear worn and bear the same serial numbers. It is believed the cash could be circulating within the Cairns community and police are encouraging anyone who believes they have counterfeit currency to come forward. Investigations into the origin of the fake notes are continuing.

17.01.2022 The chamber is very glad that at least we managed to stop the decision to sell. We will be working closely with all parties involved to ensure the best outcome for our community.

17.01.2022 Ask your accountant for specific advise, but worth looking into.

17.01.2022 A great selection of photos from the street markets by Chamber Member John de Rooy of John de Rooy Photography. Can you spot yourself?: https://youtu.be/RUqFiDP54PI

17.01.2022 Here's another Moolanda News segment showcasing a great local business - Bendigo Bank Malanda. The Moo News technical crew (different to the reporting crew) have been busy learning how to edit segments under the expert guidance of none other than Ross Robinson, the Chamber's Media Officer. This report was edited by two talented Year 5 students, making the entire clip almost entirely student driven. How great is that??!!

16.01.2022 The Chamber would like to thank everyone involved in making last night's Christmas Street Markets Festival such a huge success. Thanks to all the businesses that stayed open for late night shopping and to launch of our Buy Local Christmas campaign. Thanks to the stall holders, food vendors and entertainers who made it such a wonderful festive atmosphere. Special thanks to Cr Dave Bilney who worked hard both behind the scenes in preparation and then being our MC for the evening. Also to Mark Allen for his support and his music and DJing skills. Super special mention must go to Gail Barton, our Chamber secretary whose hard work, people and organisational skills made this happen. Without her, the festival would not have happened.

15.01.2022 We look forward to seeing many members of the Malanda Family this afternoon. Don’t forget your chairs and picnic rug

15.01.2022 Here are some responses to the most common concerns/questions raised over the past couple days regarding the new Covid Check-In Rules: Q. What if someone >Doesn’t have a smart phone? >Doesn’t have a phone?... >Battery is dead?\ A. A venue can invest in a tablet and they are not expensive (under $80), check your local electronics store. As an example, Office Works sell the Lenovo Tab M7 2nd Gen 7" Tablet for $77. Q. What if the internet is down or there is no internet? A. Using that same tablet mentioned above, have a digital spreadsheet setup (this can be done in Word, Excel or even Note Pad) with the required details (name, email or address & tel no) Q. With the recommended ‘Safe Visit’ platform it remembers who you are, so if a venue uses it to check someone in how do you get it to not remember those details and start fresh each entry? A. Safe Visit has just been upgraded to accommodate venue using a new manual check-in option. Ideal for those without smartphones or keen to scan a QR, vendors can now setup self-service tablets/devices for quick and simple digital check-in, keeping them compliant and the customers flowing.
