It takes a lot to pull off a successful and safe event. We are deeply thankful to have such a supportive and active volunteering community here in Mallacoota. This event would not be possible without the wonderful folks at the CFA, SES, Lion's Club, our service and emergency agencies - Parks Victoria, Victoria Police, and East Gippsland Shire Council. In total, there are more than 70 community members who come together and generously give their time to this fundraising event in support of the Mallacoota Kinder.

14.01.2022 "I love kinder because there are no zombies there." - Hendriks, age 3 The fun run is the sole fundraising effort that allows us to keep the Mallacoota Pre-School doors open. I don't have to explain how important this is for our small community. It is a place that supports independence, early learning, and CREATIVITY! ... Come on down to Mallacoota for a fun, family friendly, *zombie free* weekend!

13.01.2022 We've been contacted by Parks as well as concerned community members about some special little locals we have at Betka Beach - 'We are fortunate to have a pair of rare little Hooded Plovers nesting at Betka Beach. Their attempts to raise a family have so far been unsuccessful, however there is a new nest with eggs at on the sand at Betka! The nesting area is fenced and some kind bird-watching local residents will be in the area during the fun run to ensure adults and childre...n alike don't accidentally walk into the nesting zone. The sandcastle competition will be well away from this zone too. Please be reminded that at this time of year Council has regulated that no dogs are allowed at Betka Beach and we do not allow dogs to participate in the fun run either. Thanks for helping to keep our beautiful flora and fauna thriving!' 11.01.2022 Sunday is forecast to be in the upper-twenties, beautiful, and sunny! Please remember to bring a re-usable water bottle to fill up at our water taps in the event precinct area at Betka Beach, kindly provided by East Gippsland Water. There are water stations along the course for the 5km, 10km and 1/2 marathon - but if you need to hydrate between stations then please bring a water bottle.
