25.01.2022 From June 30, generally all non-residents selling real estate cannot claim the principle place of residence exemption so the old family home in Australia will have tax levied on every dollar of gains. Remember that this will impact too on those Aussies who are living and working overseas whilst maintaining their principle place of residence here with the intent of eventually coming home. Email me now for further details... Paul

21.01.2022 Is all this JobKeeper and other govt incentive stuff driving you nuts ? Visit my group to post questions or call us to discuss

19.01.2022 Have you got super contributions correct to date ? The governent has passed amnesty laws which allow employers to catch up or correct current and historical errors (intentional or honest mistakes) with their super. If you have any doubts about your compliance please contact us to investigate and sort with you. #superannuation #supercontributions #super... https://www.ato.gov.au//Proposed-Superannuation-Guarantee/

17.01.2022 Wanna make things easier ? Get a separate credit card or account just for business stuff. Easy peasy

15.01.2022 Jobkeeper registration opens Monday next but employers must be registered by the end of April to claim jobkeeper payments for April. Don't forget to pay eligible employees $1500/fn commencing March 30 Be sure your business qualifies as do your employees before doing anything Let me know if you need a hand

13.01.2022 No doubt you have heard that the Federal Govt has announced assistance for business as a result of the economic disaster being felt/coming from the virus For full details, I have attached a link to the ATO website FYI https://www.ato.gov.au//The-Australian-Government-s-Econo/... (courtesy of the ATO)

13.01.2022 Did you know that all banks now facilitate downloads of bank transactions in 'csv' format for use in Excel ? Download the whole year (for each account) and sort by description to group expenses/income for easy classification straight onto your tax return in many cases. Let me show you in a few free minutes if you need a hand.

12.01.2022 Suppose you've heard about the new Jobkeeper payment ? Govt gives you $1500 every fortnight for each employee you keep on rather than the employee going on centrelink payments. So you act as centrelink for the Govt...paying staff, withholding tax, reporting to ATO; but no one is at work !... The $139b cost is coming from the $139b saved in centrelink payments ! Also, it seems like if staff were on less than $1500 (before tax) they will get a pay rise too as employers cannot keep any excess. Let's see what's in the detail ...

11.01.2022 Did you know that the new jobkeeper handout requires that the employer has actually paid staff from fortnight commencing March 30 ? Remember it is a reimbursement !

11.01.2022 Want a second opinion ? Shares, property, business acquisitions, budgets, structures, super, tax, GST and others ? A second set of eyes is cheaper than stuffing up or losing all your money (and sanity).... It is possible that not everything has been considered and factored in perhaps ? Contact us if you are the prudent type :-) Avagooday Paul

09.01.2022 I've listed below some Coronavirus Govt Incentives things to do; Businesses First and foremost, if you have staff you should register with the ATO for the employee relief payments of $1500/fortnight.... https://www.ato.gov.au/Job-keeper-payment/ Secondly you should personally register for centrelink if your business has dropped off by at least 20% due to Coronavirus https://my.gov.au/LoginServices/main/login?execution=e2s1 Thirdly, most state governments are lending to businesses at favorable terms to assist. Qld has zero interest and the Qld Govt will lend up to 50% your 2019 salaries amount. Business must have fallen because of Coronavirus shutdowns. http://www.qrida.qld.gov.au//queensland-covid19-jobs-suppo Fourth, you should contact the ATO to defer your BAS payments until Sept 14th (the latest day). I can assist with this. https://www.ato.gov.au//Support-measures-to-assist-those-/ Fifth, contact your bank as some can provide a 6 month loan repayment holiday. Sixth, lodge your March BAS as the $20k-$100k business handouts are calculated at 200% of the PAYGW amount reported thereon. Again, I can assist as need. Employees You should register with Centrelink for assistance If your employer receives the job keeper allowance then your employer will pay you and not Centrelink so check with your employer. If you get stuck, please contact us

08.01.2022 Did you know that the self employed are also eligible for assistance and not just those with employees ? For you it will involve signing up on mygov and declaring that your business has been suspended or income has declined significantly due to the shutdown. You should then be eligible for the jobseeker payment and the coronavirus supplement. To continue to qualify you will not need to look for work but you will need to continue to 'develop and sustain' your business. If you get stuck please give us a call

06.01.2022 Some of us in construction, mining, freight etc have not been impacted that much by the lock down - in fact some are flourishing. Now is probably the best time in 100 years to buy assets - with assets less than $150k immediately deductible in full and interest rates near free. Considering expanding or upgrading? Let's have a chat at need...

05.01.2022 The government is handing out money to businesses by offsetting it with amounts owing on the March and June BASs so get these lodged asap. The amounts handed out will depend on the amount of 'wages tax' withheld from staff and reported on these 2 BASs If you get stuck give me a call.

05.01.2022 The tax man has increased the amount of data that is lodged with tax returns to allow it to identify cheats (and 'honest' mistakes). Scary as it is though, many tax agents deliberately cheat too so that they are 'appreciated' by their clients. In over 30 years, we have never cheated even by $1 as we can't sleep at night otherwise. That's just how we operate.

03.01.2022 Did you know that a Super Fund can now be slugged with tax at the top marginal rate if it has any non arms-length income or expenditure? This could mean that 45% tax is levied on the previous tax-free pension income as well as the income which was previously taxed at only 15% The ramifications can be huge If you sell/buy something from your Fund, or lease it business premises or provide services to it for less than market value then you had best call us today don't you think ?

02.01.2022 Did you know that the tax man is on the lookout for those who scheme in order to qualify for the new government handouts if you are incorporated or run your business through a trust and thereby receive dividends and distributions don’t be tempted to suddenly put yourself on the payroll will you. if you need any assistance we are glad to help

02.01.2022 Remember that payments made to directors, family members etc need to have the appropriate tax withheld otherwise such payments will no longer be tax deductible. Such 'payments' are common in trading entities who may have tax losses. If you get stuck, give us a holler.
