25.01.2022 Wow its now a cliche, but 2020 has certainly challenged us all,but through hard work and sacrifice we now appear to be in a more positive place, but we all know first hand what happens when things don't go as planned. A great positive for everyone is the return of cricket, and in particular the first training session of the season scheduled for Thursday 24 September. With the return to training comes responsibility for all participants, we must follow the guidelines set out b...y the State Govt, COGG, Cricket Victoria and the GCA. If you answer yes to any of the questions below you are asked not attend training, and if you display any symptoms outlined you should get tested for COVID-19. 1. Have you tested positive for coronavirus (also known as COVID-19)?* 2. Have you come into contact with a person with a confirmed case of coronavirus, or been told you need to self-isolate for any other reason, within the last 14 days? 3. Do you have any of the following symptoms? Fever, chills or sweats, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, loss or changes in sense of smell or taste? 4. Are you currently awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test taken due to the presence of any of these symptoms?* What to expect at training All attendees check in and use the hand sanitiser on arrival & re-apply every 30-40 minutes. Any training equipment that will be used (e.g. balls, cones etc) have been cleaned before use. Train in small group sizes (as per State Government requirements/restrictions). Groups do not mix with other groups at any stage. We will be splitting up into groups of no more than 10 with the ability to utilise both ovals, and rotating between groups. All attendees are to refrain from spitting and nasal clearing and shall not use sweat or saliva on the balls. Players should be dressed ready to train and no personal playing equipment is to be shared including helmets, pads, gloves, bats. Masks are to be worn at all times (unless players are batting, bowling and/or involved in active fielding drills where running is involved) To comply with the intention of Victorian State Government advice for mask usage unless you are undertaking strenuous exercise. All attendees maintain a 1.5m distance to others. All attendees are to ‘sign out’ at the completion of training via the attendance register - for contact tracing assistance. The club ask that all players follow these guidlines, if we don't it may be far more serious than not having a cricket season. I get that the language used throughout this post is not what you would call inspiring, but if we all follow these pretty simple rules it may well inspire all of us to train that little bit harder, take that extra catch, bowl just one more over. Let's make Thursday September 24 the first day of a season to remember, after all how could we forget 2020 Go the Mighty Bloody Sharks.
24.01.2022 Great to be back at Training ... 34 days till the First Game .... don’t forget Tuesday night at 5pm ... Strong COVID Rules Apply !

23.01.2022 Hi All, As you may have heard, the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has added the MCG as a possible corona virus acquisition site specifically being day 2 (Dec 27) of the recent Boxing Day Test and encompassing Zone 5 in the Great Southern Stand. In order to ensure that the 20/21 season continues as planned, any GCA cricketer or constituent club member who attended the MCG on day 2 and were in Zone 5:... must immediately take steps to ensure that they do not attend their club for training or socialising; and please get tested and self-isolate until you receive a negative result. A Melbourne Cricket Club spokesperson has publicly advised that patrons were in Zone 5 of the MCG if they entered the Great Southern Stand through gates 5 or 6, and Zone 5 comprised the following sections (and these would have been listed on the match day ticket for day two): M16 to M27, N16 to N28, P15 to P28, Q15 to Q28 and corporate suites 27-54 Jolimont Club. Details of the DHHS advice regarding the MCG are set out below (and please visit the DHHS corona virus website Department of Health and Human Services Victoria | Coronavirus (COVID-19) (dhhs.vic.gov.au) if you require further information). Start Quote DHHS Advice: MCG Possible acquisition site If you attended the MCG on Dec 27, seated in The Great Southern Stand, Zone 5, between 12.30pm - 3.30pm, you must get tested & self-quarantine until you get a negative result. Details for the seating in Zone 5 are available at the MCG website. The MCG is being investigated as a potential source for acquisition. This means we have a confirmed case of coronavirus who was not infectious but that we believe may have acquired their infection at this location. If you were at these locations during these times, please get tested and self-isolate until you receive a negative result. This will help us track the source of the virus and stop its spread.

01.01.2022 Hi Sharks 4 out of 5 wins this week with our First XI narrowly going down to CORIO in a tightly fought contest Women’s Div 1 ... Sharks won the toss and chose to bat. It was tough conditions with long grass and some pace bowling from former Australian player Annie Maloney, but we set a solid total of 114 with Bree Gorman (53 n.o) and @Brooke Brooke Gorman having a cameo at the end and adding 30 to the total. Our opening bowlers applied great pressure, great performances from Hele Jones and Loren Stephens. Bree got the breakthrough with 2 wickets in her first over and then Annie was at the crease. She fired off 40 runs quickly but was caught off Sophie Walker bowling by Helen and that sealed the game. Mano ended the day with a hard fought 6 run win. 2nd XI Won the Toss and asked Corio to Bowl first Started very Scratchy at 2/1 and 3/3 before Lee Bartlett (21) and Bailey Croker (33) got the batting to 4/67 we then lost another clump of wickets 7/75 before Damian Tom (26) and Eamon Mills (19) pushed the score to 123 and the tail getting us to 144 all out ... must say Tyler Edwards getting a shocker Corio started there innings with a couple of early wickets to have them 2/0 however a steady partnership had them 4/45 ... good spread of tight bowling saw us win the game by 49 runs with leading wicket taker Eamon Mills taking 3/27 off his 10 overs 3rd XI The 3s chalked up there first win for the season with a solid victory over G/West. Winning the toss and electing to bat first we had a solid start with a partnership of 34 between Damian Stephens and Steve Young. Bubbles (Josh Williams making a flamboyant 18 before holing out and Graffy chipping in with 15. Some sencible batting helped us post a 169 at the end of our 40 overs. Stevo the standout with an unbeaten 54. G/West was bowled out for just 75 due to some tight bowling and excellent ctaching. Youngy again taking a one handed blinder in the gully. Stapo ( Dylan J Stapleton 3 and @Gazza Tute 2 wickets V 1 and JA 4/9 (Barry Dawson) the wicket takers. All in all a much improved effort from the 3s this weekend. 4th XI The 4ths bat out the overs to register 6/201 with Nobby Bell and Jason Pitchford scoring 50 each. Meredith were dismissed for 155 with wickets shared among the bowlers. Anil took a ripper catch first ball to start us off. A great team effort with contributions from everyone. Great Effort Sharks
