24.01.2022 STATE LIBRARY OF WA STRIKES GOLD - PART TWO In 1989 professional photographers Trish Ainslie and Roger Garwood travelled to the Eastern Goldfields of Western Au...stralia to produce a photographic record of the last of the traditional gold prospectors. In the process they also met many locals and became fascinated by their stories and uncomplicated lives. People who "by accident or design had escaped the acquisitive rat-race and were blissfully happy and content with their lot." Take a moment to enjoy these wonderful images and words by Roger and Trish chosen from their book "Chook on Sundays" (1992). Treasures of the State Library and reproduced with kind permission. "It is to these people that Goldfields towns owe their inimitable character" If you missed PART ONE of this post (a tribute to Western Australian Prospectors) you can find it here https://bit.ly/33iOTdI ABC Perth The West Australian ABC Goldfields-Esperance Kalgoorlie Miner City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder David Templeman MLA Western Australian Museum Museum of the Goldfields Australia's Golden Outback Kalgoorlie, Western Australia Boulder, Western Australia, Australia Coolgardie, Western Australia Kalgoorlie-Boulder Visitor Centre The Prospectors Patch Rick Wilson Centre for Stories Have a Go News Lost Perth Outback Family History Museum of Perth
