Last week he featured in the Wentworth Courier (attached photo), reflecting on his role in "Muriel's Wedding, The Musical" at Sydney Theatre Company and his upcoming musical "The View Upstairs" at Hayes Theatre Co, a look into the 1970s gay culture in New Orleans. This will play from Thursday 8th February to Sunday 4th March 2018, coinciding with Mardi Gras season. Matinee and evening shows can be booked at ht...tps://hayestheatre.com.au/event/the-view-upstairs/ You may be a Paddo boy now, but the Northern Beaches will never forget you Stephen! 19.01.2022 TEACHERS! Sorry for the delay in content- the year is in full swing at school. This is the staff photo for 2018. Those who have been at Manly in the past 2 decades may recognise a few faces- see if you can name them still! (Please be respectful- many staff are also subscribed to this page)
19.01.2022 Who's been a bad student?! Before 1984, corporate punishment was a commonplace disciplinary practice in educational institutions. Like all good schools, records were kept when indiscretions occurred. Some students were regulars in the ledgers. Some of the reasons... well, shall we not say.... Does anyone remember their name and offence from this book?
18.01.2022 Can you help? Message from our careers advisor, Donna Colby. Please contact her at school if you can help - 9905 3982 / [email protected] Hi all, would anybody be available to come to Manly Selective Campus on Tuesday 3rd March to participate in our annual Careers Day? ... 17.01.2022 GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY Naomi LEVITON, currently a Teacher of Music at Manly, has been a serving member of the SES for many years now on the Northern Beaches. She uses her teaching skills to educate volunteers of the SES to be best prepared for storm and flood responses. Most notably for the school community, she introduced the NSW SES Cadet Program to the students at Manly. Our students now get to train in opportunities normally available to adults only. The program was... so successful, the organisation has rethought their cadetship initiative. Thank you Naomi for your service to the school and the community. Amongst teaching, bringing out music curricula at school, building the sets and tech crew for the musicals, you live and breathe service to the community.

16.01.2022 Bored over uni break?? Have a few hours to spare over the holidays? The Armoury (aka special storeroom) is due for a big clean. The school's archives lives in there, as well as a multitude of things that have made their way in there which probably shouldn't have(!). We are calling for even a few people who could give an hour or two over Thursday 12th - Friday 13th July to help empty the room so we can sort through it all. You will be given lots of food and drink (not necessar...ily healthy, but we can do healthy too!). If you are able to help, please shoot an email to the School's Admin Manager, Judy BOYLAN ([email protected] or call 9905 3982- yes, the number hasn't changed!).
16.01.2022 Class of 2012 - Academic Excellence Tallulah Bur made her name at Manly. Excelling in coursework, debating and dance, she is remembered as being an all- rounder student. 13.01.2022 Class of 2007- Academic Excellence Isobel Ronai was a 2007 graduate who, besides making academic success at school, also made appearances in many school musical productions. In 2013, Isobel began a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) thesis at The University of Sydney, researching the genetic and mechanistic basis of worker sterility in the honey bee. Given the changing climate of earth and increased awareness of the potential shortage of bees, this discipline would undoubtedly contri...bute significantly to a global issue. 12.01.2022 It is with great sadness we report that retired teacher, Mr Chris LOW, has passed away. Mr LOW taught Science, particularly Physics, between 1993 and 2009 at Manly. Interestingly, his major was in Chemistry. Mr LOW was remembered as a very intelligent and witty teacher. All senior students wanted him as their Physics teacher. He will be sorely missed by staff, students and alumni.... - Michael FOY

08.01.2022 I know a lot of time is given to Stephen Madsen on this page- we are just thrilled at his success! Some may have seen him in today's Manly Daily, where he acknowledges one of his Music Teachers from Manly, Mrs Katie ANDERSON, as pivotal in starting his singing and vocalisation. It is heartwarming to know that school was a major aspect to Stephen's success. May Manly continue to be an institution that inspires the best of each student. The article is below.... (FYI, Mrs Katie ANDERSON is still on the books as a teacher. She may return soon or later- who knows!)

07.01.2022 Class of 2016- Personal Best Catherine Zhang finished at Manly 2 years ago. Her artwork entitled "Tea Party" won an award at the Artexpress launch for her cohort's work. Just looking at the post below makes me hungry! Congratulations Catherine! Gifted in more ways that academic, which is what Manly prides itself in.
07.01.2022 Class of 2012- Personal Best Being a selective school, Manly's emphasis on sport can sometimes not be as strong as those of other schools. Nevertheless, this didn't stop Reece Hodge from making the Australian Schoolboys team during his schooling years (normally filled with students from the so-called GPS). He has represented Australia on The Wallabies and recently was successful qualifying for the Rebels No. 10. More information in the article below. Follow Qantas Wallabies ...for some golden moments from Reece. Congratulations Reece! We hope you make it further.
06.01.2022 Remembering Justine DAMOND (nee Ruszczyk)- graduating class 1995) Today, a grand jury proceeding was initiated to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of Justine. Ex- student Justine DAMOND, 1995 School Captain of Manly High School and The University of Sydney, was tragically killed by Police in the USA last year in what is believed to be a major misunderstanding.... A vet and yoga instructor, her friends and family remember her for her kindness and gentle spirit. This makes her death even more hurtful. The community strongly wishes for the County Attorney to work speedily in the legal case, for the sake of Justine's family. May the Grand Jury (in Australian law, a committal proceeding, but differs in that a jury of citizens are empanelled) yield a just indictment. Rest in Peace Justine. You will not be forgotten.
06.01.2022 A tribute by the current Head Teacher of Science for Chris LOW, as published in the School Newsletter (The Weekly Pines). The current teaching staff are very touched at the response from the alumni. It affirms how deep a mark Mr LOW left on the school body. If details of a memorial service come to light, we will publish it here.

01.01.2022 A message from the Manly P&C: Working Group for New Gymnasium After years of needing to hold school assemblies in the quad, packing out the hall for musicals, open days and events, working around insufficient space to hold exams, not to mention a lack of indoor sports facilities, the P&C in consultation with the school, believe it is time Manly Campus had its own gymnasium. A state-of-the-art multi-use facility would cater for the sporting needs of Manly Campus’ enthusiastic... and talented student body, as well as providing a space for many of the other needs of the school and community. To get the ball rolling, we would like to establish a working group early in 2020, initially to develop a concept and brief for discussion. This exciting project represents a fabulous opportunity to make a significant and lasting difference to the quality of the school experience for Manly Campus students and community for generations to come. To make it happen we will need the support of the entire school community. If you have experience or skills in an area such as design and architecture, communications, fundraising, lobbying or grant applications and would like to be part of the Working Group, we would love to hear from you. Or if you simply would like to get involved in this project with your energy and enthusiasm, please also get in touch. Please send us a private message or add a comment below and we will get in touch if you would like to be involved. Thanks!

01.01.2022 Class of 2007- Personal Best Adam Brook is remembered for his musical excellence.
