Separation distress - ours and theirs - is real. Dogs are pack animals so having their humans back 24/7 during #iso was an awesome win for them. But now we need to help them adjust to being home alone again. ... Take it slow. Keep it fun. Introduce positive distractions. Give them quality playtime with you and keep up the daily exercise. And most important, feed them healthy food. If they are eating a healthy diet they will feel better in themselves. Enrichment toys are a great way to establish a positive distraction and a new routine before you leave the house. Think puzzle toys, nose work games and kong style toys. Show them how it works, have fun with them and slowly ease yourself out of the picture. Then when it comes to leaving for work, they will be happily distracted and less likely to feel distressed when you leave.
