24.01.2022 The developer of MapRun, Peter Effeney, is a finalist for an award by the peak body for outdoor recreation in Queensland, Australia, for his achievements with the MapRun app. Great to see this recognition. The awards ceremony will be streamed live tomorrow (Fri 30 Oct) at 6pm Brisbane time (GMT + 10). Fingers crossed! https://qorf.org.au/whats-/outdoorsqueenslandawards-dinner/

24.01.2022 Thanks Orienteering South Australia for this quick and easy guide!

23.01.2022 Garmin are still working on issues regarding retrieving FIT files. Until they have fixed it, MapRunG's "Get Track from Garmin" will not work. However, you can still upload from your watch to the MapRun server by (1) exporting a GPX track from Strava and then (2) uploading it at http://www.p.fne.com.au/#/gpsupload

17.01.2022 Helpful webinar from British Orienteering on using MapRun: setting up virtual courses, practicalities and functions of the platform, and lots of questions answered!

17.01.2022 New Version of MapRunG (Version 1.1.0) There is a new version of MapRunG in the Garmin Store that offers: - A 4-sec alert upon punching a control, - reduced memory requirements so that smaller-capacity watches can now handle large courses (capacity is now >200 controls per course) - added support for Venu Sq and Venu Sq Music models... - better error messaging - some screen layout optimisation. Note that an event sent to your watch under the previous version will need to be resent for this version.

16.01.2022 New Support Email Address. We had some bumps in the service over the last 12 hours, due to a service provider we were using to route internet traffic to the server. We've reconfigured them out of the system to increase reliability, and as a consequence, the old support email address has been replaced with: [email protected]. The website www.maprunners.com.au has been updated.

13.01.2022 No need for a SIM card to use MapRunF on a mobile phone

11.01.2022 The Garmin outage is continuing longer than anyone expected. You CAN still run with MapRunG on your watch in the normal way (send the event from your phone to your watch) and your watch will record the controls as usual. But getting your result uploaded is less convenient as MapRun can’t "Get Track from Garmin" while the server is down. A workaround is to (1) plug your watch into the computer to upload your FIT file to Strava, (2) use Strava to export your track as a GPX file and (3) upload it to MapRun using the GPX Track Upload at http://p.fne.com.au/#/gpsupload For more detailed info and alternatives, see http://maprun.250607.n8.nabble.com/MapRunG-MapRun-on-a-Garm

10.01.2022 We are excited to announce that MapRunG is now available and ready to download for all compatable Garmin smart watches! 08.01.2022 If you're looking for a fix of some "real" orienteering as your daily exercise during Lockdown, you can very simply set up a course from your backdoor using the... latest version of the MapRun app, "MapRunF". MapRunF includes a Quick Start Event capability which allows you to manually create a course on your phone without any map or course files. You simply drop pins onto the satellite image in the App to position the location of control points and design your course, and then run using the satellite image as your map. You can find out more about this capability here http://maprunners.weebly.com/maprunf---quickstart.html. Then challenge the family to see who can set the best time! See more
