25.01.2022 Correa glabra Ivory Beacon. This plant has not only survived, but flourished with very little additional water.
20.01.2022 Banksia violacea. From the top the flower looks like a tangle of leaves. Plants can vary from 50cm to 2m high. This one sits happily at the lower end of the growth scale.
19.01.2022 Aerial roots capturing water on Ficus rubiginosa.
17.01.2022 Eupomatia laurina (Native Guava, Copper Laurel, Bolwarra) An understorey plant, common in coastal rainforests from QLD to Victoria and Papua New Guinea. A large spreading multi-trunked shrub, 3-5m with red/bronze foliage in the cooler months. With beautiful cream flowers in spring and summer, with each flower only lasting for a single day! The strong perfume of the flowers attract pollinating weevils. And the fruit ripening in winter are a wildlife favourite! The fruits can also be used in jams or even raw if you don’t mind a few seeds!
14.01.2022 Brachychiton discolor. Queensland Lacebark. A semi-deciduous rainforest tree.
12.01.2022 A few shots of bark after the rain.
10.01.2022 Eucalyptus pumila is a small smooth-barked Mallee. It flowers in late summer through to winter. The Rainbow Lorikeets took possession of this one for quite a while, defending it from a single pugnacious Noisy Miner.
09.01.2022 Glochidion ferdinandi is known as the Cheese Tree. A couple of Crimson Rosellas foraging happily on it today.
05.01.2022 Wahlenbergia communis. A couple of sunny days has seen these flowers open, These have been mass planted as part of our 'Flowering Meadow' display, next to the indigenous garden
05.01.2022 Melaleuca leucadendra (Weeping Paperbark)
02.01.2022 Lythrum salicaria and a small visitor in the sun.
02.01.2022 Grevillea asteriscosa (Star-leaf Grevillea) A small quite prickly shrub requiring well-drained gravelly soils. Western Australia Avon Wheatbelt and Mallee regions.
01.01.2022 Callistemon subulatus ‘Brogo Overflow’ Small dense shrub (1-2m) is good for low hedges and responds well to pruning after flowering. It has a long flowering period from late winter through summer and is great for attracting birds!
