20.01.2022 *Attention* After recent updates from the government, all patients are eligible for over the phone/video consultations for all appointments if they have been seen in clinic in the past 12 months. What does this mean?... - You will be able to get medical help from the comfort & safety of your home How will this work? - To book an appointment, simply just call MMC on 4622 2266 & schedule a time for the doctor to call you - At the chosen time, the doctor will phone/skype /facetime through to your chosen device - If the doctor requires you to come in for any testing or face to face observations, the doctor will allocate you a time to come into clinic & have this done If you are a patient who needs to physically come in for vaccinations, procedures or examinations, we are asking that when you arrive, you call from the car & we will check you into our digital waiting room. Once the doctor is free & ready for your appointment, we will phone you back & ask you to come straight through to the doctors rooms.

14.01.2022 Last week we had the privilege of expanding our knowledge on the topic of older women & homelessness from final year Occupational Therapy Student, Abby Payne, who came and did an in-service on the topic. As part of her final year studies, Abby has been doing a social change project working to increase community awareness on this topic. Some interesting facts she shared with us: In 2016, 1,607 older women (55 or over) were homeless, with 44% of these women staying temporaril...y with friends. Older women make up 19% of social housing and 16% of community housing tenants. In 2017-18, over 13,800 older women accessed specialist homeless services - showing a 63% increase in five years! Most older women accessing homelessness services will seek general services (82%), but a lot will also need domestic violence assistance (35%) and long-term accommodation (31%). From an occupational therapy perspective, she provided a unique insight into the occupational injustice that older women experience as a result of being homeless. Occupational injustice is defined as any instance where people are prevented from equitable participation in society. As I’m sure you can imagine, being homeless has a huge impact to a person’s ability for equitable participation in society.
