22.01.2022 Hi Everyone Since the fires started in the Watsonville/Irvinebank area two weeks ago the Salvation Army and volunteers have been working tirelessly to provide the teams fighting the fires with 3 meals a day and snack packs. The numbers of fire fighters have fluctuated between 55 and 85 so there have been a lot of mouths to feed. Volunteer teams are tiring and Salvation Army staff are needing to return to Cairns and Townsville by this Friday. The Salvos are desperate for more... volunteers to cover the weekend. As a result the Salvation Army are calling for support this coming weekend and volunteers are required to assist at the following times: Friday 5th evening shift 3pm to 8pm Saturday 6th morning (5.30am to 9.30am); lunch (10am to 2pm); evening meal (3/3.30pm to 8pm) Sunday 7th morning (5.30am to 9.30am); lunch (10am to 2pm); evening meal (3/3.30pm to 8pm) If you can assist please contact Miriam at the Salvos directly by emailing [email protected] providing your name, phone number and availability. Miriam will respond to your email in the evenings as she is working in Watsonville with no reception from 5am until late afternoon. If you do volunteer, remember to wear closed in shoes, trousers that cover the knees, a hat and bring plenty of water. If you are aware of anyone else in the community who may wish to volunteer please feel free to past this request on. Thank you for your support.

13.01.2022 The Mareeba Mosque is now open for daily congregational and Friday prayers. Social distancing must be observed at all times. No more than 20 people allowed at one time. Hand sanitiser must be used upon entry. Everyone is required to bring their own prayer mat. Please stay away if experiencing any cold/flu like symptoms. Please see attachment for further advises.
