23.01.2022 Covid-19 update From tomorrow this practice will be operating at level 3 restrictions as per advice from the Australian Dental Association. Level 3 restrictions dictate the following:... - cease all care of anyone who should be self isolating - cease non urgent care for patients who are 70 years or older, pregnant, medically or immunocompromised -cease all aerosol generating procedures for all patients receiving non-urgent care. Aerosol procedures include use of high speed drill, triple syringe and ultrasonic scalers Procedures considered URGENT include: - dental pain or toothache - localised infection - tooth fracture involving nerve - extensive cavitated lesions currently symptomatic Procedures considered EMERGENCY include: - uncontrolled bleeding - facial swelling - facial trauma As per previous advice use of hand sanitiser upon entering the practice to be followed by ozonated water mouthwash for 20 seconds before treatment to minimise viral loads. Waiting room area and door handles are wiped following patient arrival / exit. Tomorrow will mean the practice is operating only on an emergency basis. The door will be closed with signage on the front door. I ask that you ring Charlize on 40924277 to arrange a suitable time for treatment for conditions which fall into the above categories. I will be available, but for the most part be self isolating at home. I wish you all a safe and enjoyable quarantine period and hope life can return to some degree of normalcy very soon. Kind regards Greg Broesder

19.01.2022 Join me in stopping the spread of COVID-19! Download COVIDSafe, an app from the Australian Government. #COVID19 #coronavirusaustralia #stayhomesavelives https://covidsafe.gov.au

19.01.2022 Covid-19 Update Dear Everyone In order to keep our patient's safe we are instituting the following changes effective immediately:... 1. routine dental treatment is to be deferred 2. aerosol treatments deferred, especially scale and cleans We will continue to see patients who are: 1. in pain 2. routine dental treatment that should not be deferred for 3-6 months as it could become a serious problem 3. orthodontic procedures 4. denture repairs Patient's who have covid-19 or have been in contact with someone and are self isolating or quarantined they should seek advice from their GP in the first instance: Please ring 13 43 25 84 (13 HEALTH) or the coronavirus hotline 1800 020080. Please ensure that if this is you that you continue to self isolate in the meantime and advise your GP of your health status. For patients presenting to the practice we require you to have a pre treatment mouthrinse with ozonated water for 20 seconds. This reduces the oral viral load for about 3 hours. The waiting room chairs, reception desk and doors are wiped between patients. Normal infection control practices are also carried out. As any changes occur I will inform you accordingly. Thanks your patience and understanding in this difficult time. Greg Broesder

11.01.2022 Was time to put my nose where my mouth is. Had Dr McIntosh up my nose yesterday - history of valving (collapse of nostril when trying to breathe through nose) Previous history of 3 surgeries, last 10 years ago. Ended up with a septoplasty and small bony tumour removal.... Dr Macintosh practices out of Maroochydore- direct flight from cairns. Consult on one day, operation the next. Usually one week before you can fly again. Dr Macintosh operates out of Sunshine Coast private university hospital - excellent facility and staff. Today I’m resting after a very good procedure and haven’t required pain relief. If an airway problem is an issue this is ENT paediatric/adult specialist I’ll be referring you to. Cheers Dr David McIntosh https://www.facebook.com/entspecialistsaustralia http://www.fb.me/snoredtodeath https://www.facebook.com/TonguetieOz/ https://www.facebook.com/ENTforDentists/

06.01.2022 Mareeba Dental Centre is very happy to inform all of our patients that level 3 restrictions will be lifted as of this coming Monday 26/04/2020. Level 2 restrictions means we can do all treatment except for cleans using the ultrasonic scaler and surgical extractions. All treatment we do complete will have to be done under a rubber dam. For all patients with outstanding treatment, we will be in contact. If you are experiencing any toothache pain, swelling or have experienced dental trauma please on 07 40924277

05.01.2022 Level 1 begins I’m pleased to say dentistry is back to mostly normal. We can do pretty much everything as before except: - not treat people with covid-19... - if you are sick stay at home We will continue with: - social distancing in waiting rooms - avoid bringing many people to appointments - use hand sanitizer on arrival - pretreatment mouth rinse with ozonated water for 20 seconds (this reduces the oral viral load for 3-4 hours) - use rubber dam when it makes the job easier. Looking forward to seeing you all again Greg, Frances, Melissa and Charlize
