17.01.2022 Monocle Optometry I’ve been experiencing some dizziness and sensitivity to light and wanted to get my eyes checked as I haven’t had it done in years. I had a really thorough eye examination with some very impressive equipment at @monocleoptometry, and turns out everything is all good! But what a great experience! Carla and Sam are a husband and wife dream team who we met when we first arrived in Oz 6yrs ago. Such a friendly, sociable and ambitious couple who have taken t...he leap to start their own business. They’ve created the most awesome space in their North Fremantle Practice to see their clients. Such a trendy, cool shop, professional and friendly service and no rushing you in and out like some places would. They came to the rescue back in November when my brother lost his glasses in the ocean on his visit to Oz. He was so grateful as he literally cannot see without his glasses! They’re dedicated to their work and have invested so much time and effort into their business which is amazing! I love to support small businesses and wanted to show them some love amazing job guys @ Monocle Optometry

09.01.2022 SOS Brows One of my opening/post quarantine packages is ‘SOS Brows’. This includes a brow tint and wax, and a lash tint too. This is great for clients who don’t normally have a lash tint to try one so they can see what a difference it makes. Even with dark lashes, the tips are always slightly lighter, so the tint picks that up and your eyes really stand out! This treatment is great for everyone but especially those who exercise/swim a lot and those who don’t wear make up.... If you haven’t had it done before, a tint test should be done 24hrs before, and contact lenses must be removed for the treatment. Generally a blue/black tint is used as this is the darkest and looks great for lashes. The tint can be developing while your brows are being done as it only needs 8-10mins to develop. I would always recommend a lash tint 24hrs prior to those who have lash extensions to darken the lashes before they are applied-otherwise it can be very noticeable against the black lashes sitting on top * i don’t offer lash extensions* This client doesn’t wear make up so this is a perfect ‘pick me up’ for her eyes

06.01.2022 Gelish Did you know that ‘Shellac’ is actually just a brand name. When you get a resin put on your nails and cured under a light; it’s a form of ‘gel polish’. The brand I use is called ‘Gelish’ which comes in a variety of colours and I find it long-wearing. You can never guarantee how long gel will last on nails (although on toenails it seems to never come off ). If you have your hands in hot water/cleaning products a lot - they aren’t going to last very long. I’ve fou...nd that people with more oily skin and nail texture will not hold the gel polish as long, and it will peel/chip sooner. To remove gel from your nails, the bond needs to be filed away from the top layer first, and then they are soaked in acetone. I prefer to soak cotton pads in acetone and wrap them in foil and leave for 10mins. I think it is kinder to your skin than soaking them in a bowl of acetone. Is gel polish good for your nails?! Some people find it great for helping them grow their nails- but essentially no- I wouldn’t say it’s ‘good’ for them. But hey, they look pretty For those people who constantly have gel/acrylic or even just polish on their nails, I always recommend taking a break every now and then. Look after your nails with a good cuticle oil, nourishing hand cream, and a buffer to keep nails smooth and shiny. Trim/file nails regularly, trim cuticles and any dead skin on the sides of your nails (hangnails)-biting them off can cause inflammation and irritation
