25.01.2022 From 1 December, Department of Transport will be making existing clearways on major roads (key arterial routes) within 20km of the Melbourne CBD tow-away zones. This means that vehicles parked illegally in the tow-away zones during the restricted times are impounded and drivers will receive a fine. 07.01.2022 Riding along on a pushbike took on a slightly different meaning today with the launch of the Riding with Matilda project, a communal bike, to be enjoyed by our older residents masked up of course in line with COVID requirements. Here’s the Hon Bill Shorten MP, Member for Maribyrnong, our Mayor Cr Michael Clarke and Gamini Perera OAM, Founder and President of SCATS taking Matilda out for a spin at Maribyrnong Reserve. The project, developed by the Australian Multicultural Community Services, was funded by the Rotary Club and supported by Council.

07.01.2022 Standing orders were suspended at a meeting of the Maribyrnong City Council on Tuesday night to acknowledge hockey stalwart Brendan Sheehan a life member, long standing board member and coach at the Footscray Hockey Club. Brendan has given much to the sport and to his club over more than 40 years through junior coaching and development, as well as off-field planning and project development. He was party to the negotiations with Council over the $1.9million pavilion re-development and renewal of the lease over the Footscray Hockey Centre as well as the $1.7 million dollar development of the Easter Pitch which in 2016 was named in his honour. 01.01.2022 The Community Satisfaction Survey results are in and show overall satisfaction with Council services is the highest ever at 6.99 out of 10. Libraries, recycling and waste collection, playgrounds, parks and gardens and services for children from birth to four as well as for older people rank the highest. Car parking and traffic management remain key issues for the community, along with parks, gardens and open spaces, road maintenance and repairs, and cleanliness of the local area.
