19.01.2022 Alumarine at Inverloch recently launched their new 11.9m landing barge. The aluminium catamaran meets Class 2C survey requirements and is powered by twin 300HP Suzuki outboards. The landing barge has a raised wheelhouse that gives excellent all round visibility for any loads on the main deck, and also allows the fuel tanks to be stowed above deck. The 990kg crane on the main deck adds another aspect to the versatility of the vessel. Another good product from a long line of well built vessels from Alumarine.

04.01.2022 If anyone is in the area..... There is a drifting New Zealand Tsunami detection buoy - A Tsunami detection buoy has broken free of its mooring between Tonga and Niue in the South Pacific. We are keen to recover the buoy and ask for the assistance of any vessels in the area. The buoy has onboard GPS and is continuing to provide updated positions with the most recent position of 1635.540’S 17150.133’W (at 2021-05-09 13:05:36 UTC). The buoys are yellow and labelled New Zealand... Tsunami Detection, and form part of a network of buoys to the north and west of New Zealand. The buoy has a diameter of ~2 m, a length of ~4m and weights ~1600 kg. It has an unknown amount on mooring line attached, but could be up to 5500 m, with a mixture of chain plastic jacketed wire and rope. Two photos are attached. If you are able to assist, please contact Mike Williams, NIWA at: [email protected] or on +64 21 044 7645.
