24.01.2022 Making a Colour Scheme (a shameless plug for my Patreon page notes that I hope you might find interesting). Below is a small essay about making a basic colour scheme. I will use it for my monthly Small Painted Work which will be uploaded as a finished piece in DPF format for January Patreon at the $20 subscription level. The painting is primarily a study for a planned addition to my ceramics. I have already put a black and white drawing of it on the Patreon page for this mo...nth at the $5 subscription level. I will be painting up the colours as swatches to include with these notes and upload for January at the $2 subscription level. This is something I do every month for my Patrons. I will start with my main colour which will be Viridian Green. I will pair it with Prussian Blue so that’s a Simple Harmony. My paints will be water colours which mimic the way ceramic paints behave. So to give tonal interest I will water these two colours down to change the density of the pigment, and this will allow me greater range of choices for using just these two colours P.Blue for the background, and Viridian for the two opposing faces of the Green Man with all his foliage. Next I will add some (golden) Cadmium Yellow for the flowers and buds. Notice on the colour wheel that Orange is the natural complimentary contrast to Prussian blue but to avoid the vibration that will cause, I will side-step Orange and move more towards the yellow. This will make the flowers stand out in an attractive way. I might have to make the yellow less vibrant by adding a touch of tan brown, just enough to knock it back a touch. Lastly I will add the occasional strokes of crimson to give definition to the stems and I might tie it all together by adding that same crimson as a shadow in the face of the Green Man motifs, and at the base of the flowers. The crimson will be a harmonic extension to the yellow and also to the blue. Please have a look and read of my Patreon page, and if you like what you read, and would like a monthly printable PDF of my work on any of the subscription levels, go to https://www.patreon.com/marjorielenehanarts. It’s not a charity, it’s my art activity.
23.01.2022 A heads-up. The back door crew at Patreon have made a few changes to the way patron levels work. It not about fees etc. It will not affect this coming month but will take effect in early-mid November. I will be sending out an email to all of my Patrons in the next few days to make it all clear. Meanwhile it's business as usual. :)
20.01.2022 Rug-up-for-winter time. There's snow on the mountain as I see out my kitchen windows. Right now there's a bit of mist about the mountain sides, but when it clears, the forested foothills will be very dark in colour, and the whole mountain will look like cake with icing sugar on the top by lunchtime. Right now patchy sunlight is highlighting the bare branches of the pear tree, and little birds are flitting about looking for a feed. The blue-leafed Risdon Peppermint gums are swaying about, and the wind makes me glad I am inside for the day! Today it's time to get ready for Patreon uploads. I have yet to get the colour swatches ready, but I did find a trypdich of small oil paintings while I was cleaning out the art cupboard. I have a new B&W drawing to upload for your colouring-in pleasure too. Stay warm everyone!

16.01.2022 Merry Christmas, holiday happiness and thanks to everyone for their interest in my work. A big hug and thanks to my Patrons especially, you have made it possible for me to make payments for a new mattress, and sleep without pain. <3
16.01.2022 The last week of each month sees my painting desk pretty full, making a range of Tarot cards for the Patreon page of Cary J Lenehan, my spouse and author of the Vaast series. So with that, and my pottery work, I keep pretty busy. Speaking of which, I am glad to say my Patreon page for paintings is loaded again for the coming month. :)
15.01.2022 Basic colour wheel. This is being shared as a one-off, as part of my Patreon promo (see previous posting).
14.01.2022 I have a new portfolio website. The Graphic Arts page is still missing a bit of work, but it's OK for now. www.artistmarjorielenehan.com
13.01.2022 This is important (well it is for me). For those concerned about content, there is no change. There are significant changes in the writing style, but none in the actual story. I am very pleased with the result. https://ifwgaustralia.com//re-release-of-warriors-of-vhas/
11.01.2022 Patreon is loaded for the upcoming month. Thank you for your support, it means a lot to me, and is certainly helping me to reach for goals that in the past seemed hopelessly unavailable. :)
