25.01.2022 Great news for small business! Joondalup Business Association Wanneroo Business Association (Inc)

19.01.2022 Joondalup-Kinross Cricket Club is a club that shows terrific leadership with cricket programs for people of all ages and abilities - including establishing a clear pathway for players with disabilities. I’m proud that a re-elected McGowan Labor Government will invest $90,000 for new lighting in the training nets and equipment.

14.01.2022 With 5,718 tests conducted yesterday, I can confirm that WA has again recorded zero new local cases of COVID-19 overnight. We have recorded two new COVID-19 cas...es related to overseas travel they remain in hotel quarantine. To date, for the three local cases over the weekend, we have identified 108 close contacts, with 75 of those returning a negative result so far. In addition, 476 casual contacts have been identified, with 221 having returned a negative result so far. If you have been to a potential exposure site, or you feel unwell, it’s important you get a test. Please continue to check the list of potential exposure locations online regularly at www.wa.gov.au.

13.01.2022 WA Health has confirmed the Collie man who returned a very weak positive COVID-19 result yesterday is an historical case. This confirms that the man poses no th...reat to community health and has not been included as a positive case in WA statistics. These sorts of very weak positive results are found sometimes in people who have previously had COVID-19 but have since recovered. As has occurred in this case, this can fluctuate, so weak positives can occur even after negative results have been previously returned. The Collie resident had travelled back to Australia from Poland and quarantined in a Melbourne hotel for 14 days. He tested negative to COVID-19 in all his tests while in hotel quarantine. On his return to Collie, he was retested as part of Vic Health’s follow-up of people post-quarantine. He returned a very weak positive result, which is sometimes seen in people with old, recovered infections. As a precaution, the man’s three closest contacts were asked to isolate pending further test results, including antibody tests. All have been advised of the result and are no longer required to self-isolate.

08.01.2022 Bowls is a terrific social (and competitive!) sport with hundreds of thousands of participants nationwide. Our local clubs are great hubs for the community and that's why I’m proud that a re-elected McGowan Labor Government will invest $248,500 for the installation of a new synthetic green and equipment.

04.01.2022 A RE-ELECTED MCGOWAN LABOR GOVERNMENT WILL DELIVER OVER $3.1 MILLION FOR LOCAL SPORTING GROUPS AND RECREATION IN BURNS BEACH Getting outside and enjoying our beaches, parks and organised sports is part of who we are in Western Australia. That's why I’m proud to be part of a McGowan Labor Government that will invest in our local community sporting groups and recreation facilities if re-elected, including:... $2.6 million for an All Abilities/All Ages Play Space $248,500 for Quinns Rock Bowling Club for a new synthetic green and equipment $15,000 for the Joondalup Giants Rugby League Club, including the Women’s League, for new equipment $90,000 Joondalup Kinross Cricket Club for new lighting and equipment

02.01.2022 Following the work of our contact tracing team throughout this week, 115 close contacts linked to the cases over the weekend have been identified and have now b...een tested. All 115 have returned negative results and remain in quarantine. This is fantastic news, and it shows that everything is being done to minimise even the slightest risk of community transmission. So far, there is no evidence of spread from case 1,001 beyond his two household contacts. This morning, I attended an Emergency Management Team meeting to finalise our next step forward. Based on the advice of the Chief Health Officer and the Police Commissioner we are now in a position to further ease the recent restrictions. From 12:01AM this Saturday 8 May - restrictions will be eased significantly - based on the most up-to-date health advice. Masks will only be required on public transport, at events with more than one thousand people, and at hospitals and disability and aged care facilities. People at events with a capacity of over 1000 WILL be required to wear masks. This includes events at stadiums. People will be able to have up to 100 people their homes, up from 30. Nightclubs and casinos will reopen subject to the 2 square metre rule. Major stadiums will be able to reopen to spectators, but will be limited to 75% capacity with masks compulsory for spectators. All other venues had already returned to their pre-lockdown capacity. Patrons will be permitted to order and consume food and drinks while standing. Visitors to hospitals, aged care facilities and disability centres will be increased to a limit of 4 visitors per patient per day but masks are mandatory for all staff and visitors. We expect these remaining restrictions to be in place for a further 7 days, up until 12.01am on Saturday the 15 May pending ongoing health advice. Many of you will welcome this significant relaxation of restrictions. It strikes the right balance, given the ongoing unknowns associated with this global threat and where we want to go as a community. The reason we are able to ease the restrictions is because of the efforts of the people of Perth and Peel - who have followed the health advice that is there to protect us. We must continue to follow this advice and our healthy habits so we can return to pre-lockdown life. We’ve seen just how important it is for us to check in with SafeWA and to get tested if unwell. We simply have to keep that up. We have a lifestyle that is the envy of so many around the world, many of whom are still confronted by the deadly havoc this virus can wreak. This past few weeks hasn’t been easy, but it has meant we’ve been able to move quickly to return to the conditions we had before. The most important thing is to keep COVID out of the community and prevent any long-term lockdowns or restrictions, which would have much more devastating impacts for businesses and workers. The approach we have used over the past 14 months has ensured WA’s economy is the envy of the nation and much of the world. Again, I want to thank the people of Perth and Peel and in fact the community of WA for your efforts to keep our state safe and strong. Those efforts mean our state, our community and our economy continue to defy the ongoing threats thrown up by this pandemic so we can prosper in one of the safest places in the world.
