15.01.2022 The Stoned Heen View' Episode 24 video podcast. This week we talk to Barwon Heads senior football club playing co-coach Mitch Herbison about the club's one-year anniversary of its drought breaking 2019 BFL flag around COVID-19. Herbison, a three-time premiership player at GFL club South Barwon, was a Geelong VFL listed player. Herbison, a three-time senior best and fairest winner at South Barwon, speaks about re-joining his junior club Barwon Heads as a senior playing co-coa...ch at the end of the 2016 season. We chat to Herbison about the latest recruitment coup of former AFL player Nathan Brown to Barwon Heads in 2021. Brown, 31, a premiership player with Collingwood in 2010 and played 183 games with Collingwood and St Kilda retired from the AFL in 2020. I think we will probably hold off for a couple of months (for a premiership reunion) and hopefully with restrictions easing (around COVID-19) we might be able to have a catch up later in the year or early next year when pre-season kicks off. Nathan (Brown) moved to (the) town (of) (Barwon Heads) probably at the start of this football season and then the way things (went with St Kilda’s) season they moved into the hubs and were in and out of Victoria a bit. He obviously retired midway through the season, so we had been in conversations with him. - Barwon Heads senior football co-coach Mitch Herbison said in response to a premiership reunion after the club’s one-year BFL premiership anniversary and drought breaking flag in 2019 and also on the recruitment coup of former Collingwood/St Kilda AFL player Nathan Brown to Seagulls in 2021. 09.01.2022 ‘The Stoned Heen View’ Episode 26 podcast sponsored by East Fruit Market. A live podcast episode from East Fruit Market in East Geelong. This week we talk to Thomson Tigers Football Club senior co-coach Sam Jacka about retaining its playing list with a reduced Geelong and District Football League salary cap for 2021 around the COVID-19 health pandemic. Jacka was the senior captain of the Thomson Tigers GDFL flag in 2018, discusses the hunger for success after the club lost l...ast year's GDFL grand final to eventual premiers Bannockburn. Jacka, who turned 29 at the end of September, talks about recruiting players back to the Thomson Tigers for the 2021 season and his GDFL vice-captain interleague experiences against the Bellarine Football League in 2019. Jacka, a school teacher, who has played more than 150 senior GDFL games with Thomson Tigers and began his junior career at the club at the age of six, discusses what a season without football looked like due to COVID-19 pandemic. He has strong family origins to Thomson with Sam's dad Craig Jacka a long time president of the club. "Most of our guys have come back with a hunger (in 2021). Everyone is expected to take 20-25 per cent pay cut right from the top down, I am involved in that myself." "We are really lucky in that regard, I mean to turn a (negative into a positive) we lose the 2019 grand final and we probably should have won and we didn't, it has probably spurred the boys a little bit more, People are willing to take that (pay) cut and stick together as a group." - Thomson Tigers senior playing co-coach Sam Jacka said about players taking a pay cut for 2021 season and the motivation to do well after last year's senior GDFL grand final loss to Bannockburn.
