11.01.2022 Some exciting news from The United Grand Chapter of Australia! A number of our Facebook followers, who no longer are active in their Chapter, have mentioned they wish there was a way they could keep in contact with the Order of the Eastern Star in Australia. Well, now there is! The United Grand Chapter of Australia has created an Outreach membership, specifically for those Members who are no longer able to attend a Chapter, either because there is no active Chapter within... a reasonable distance or, because the Member is no longer well enough or physically able enough to attend meetings. Outreach Members will be able to maintain communication with our Order in Australia and be able to stay informed of Eastern Star activities. It is also hoped that by retaining communication with our Outreach Members, current Chapter Members may be able to arrange opportunities to travel and meet our Outreach Members and perhaps hold functions or Outreach Meetings that can include them. An Outreach Meeting is a modified Chapter Meeting using the local Outreach Members for Office-bearers and filling the remaining Offices with visiting Members. The Outreach Meeting is held in whatever venue is available and uses whatever furniture that can be obtained Outreach membership will have annual dues of $10 and Outreach Members will also be able to purchase copies of printed newsletters or governing level reports or by receiving copies of the email newsletter from the Webmaster. If you are interested and would like more information, please send a message through our Order of the Eastern Star Australia Facebook page or our website at: www.oesaustralia.org.au See more

11.01.2022 Today our Chapter road trip is heading north to Toowoomba in south west Queensland where we will be visiting Toowoomba Chapter Toowoomba Chapter was instituted on 8th July 1950. Yes, we have turned 70 but are still waiting to be able to enjoy our birthday celebrations! On the 8th July 1950 Sister Eadie and Brother Eastwood were installed as our first Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron, along with a full complement of office bearers, by the Worthy District Grand Matron Sister Jea...n Stewart. For the past 70 years Toowoomba Chapter has been a strong chapter with office bearers installed or appointed into each position at each and every installation. Toowoomba Chapter members haves enjoyed each other’s company in many and varied social activities whether it be for pure fun or to raise much needed funds for the many community groups providing support for those in need There but for the grace of God go I. Various charities have been chosen by Worthy Matrons to receive the fruits of the members’ efforts. Some of these have been The Haven ( a residential care facility for homeless youth while they complete tertiary studies); The Base (a support centre providing food and shelter to the homeless which has received food and clothing hampers from our chapter); The Salvation Army family support centre ( which has received at least $500 worth of groceries from our chapter each Christmas for many years); Melanoma Research Assn; Muscular Dystrophy Support Committee Toowoomba; Prostate Cancer Support Group and the QCWA Rural Crisis Fund this evening. Our Chapter has taken the opportunity to promote the Order at the Christmas Tree Festival, the Toowoomba Multicultural Fair, at Toowoomba’s Open House Scheme at the Neil Street Masonic Lodge, at a Car Boot Sale, at the Seniors Expo and at a Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings. During the many Covid-19 restrictions our sisters and brothers have been creative in keeping in touch. Our chapter secretary has been sending regular messages with any correspondence attached so that all members are kept in the loop. We have had a picnic lunch in the park with correct social distancing practiced we even got a wave from the patrolling motor cycle police. We recently enjoyed lunch at a local hotel with another planned in a few weeks’ time. It is important that everyone does not let their guard down and stays safe at all times. We love living in this beautiful part of Australia not only because of all our beautiful parks and gardens for which the city is known, but because, up here on the mountain, we are nearer to God! A warm welcome awaits you at Toowoomba Chapter No.105, Order of the Eastern Star, which meets at 1pm on the third Saturday of the month, (2nd Saturday in September) at De Molay House, 90 Margaret Street, Toowoomba. For more Chapter information please visit our web page at www.oesaustralia.org.au
