18.01.2022 Great Sailing in the Head of River Event on Sunday - the showers and strong winds stayed away. Results and photographs are posted on the Club website. Thanks for coming and participating in this special event!

17.01.2022 Traditionally we think of Sunday as our Sailing Day. But currently, sailing activities happen on most days of the week, with a range of Training Activities, as well as Racing on Sundays. Great shot of our Tackers 2 youngsters heading out for some water-time on a Saturday morning! Thanks Tanya, for a great photo!

17.01.2022 Another young Maroochy sailor sneaked off to the Qld Youth Week at Yeppoon that we didn’t know about! Young Optimist skipper Eamon Godsal, son of respected MSC Laser 4.7 sailor, Tanya Kelly, headed north to take part in Green Fleet training activities at his first regatta. He was chuffed to be allocated into the Cool Cats Fleet for the final racing segments, and very pleased with his 6th placing overall on Day 1. He’s looking forward to the next few days of Racing . Does...n’t seem that long ago that Eamon was launching into sailing at Maroochy in a Tackers 1 course. We’re hoping Eamon sails in our afternoon races, and gives our lonely Cody some competition in the Optimist class!

12.01.2022 Young sailors take to the water for the first time at the September Tackers 1 program at Maroochy Sailing Club. Looks like the tide and blustery wind made for some slightly challenging conditions! After four days of Tackers 1, they will tackle such conditions with much more confidence!

11.01.2022 Two young Maroochy sailors, Saskia and Caitlin Calder, both just beginning their sailing in Lasers, have made the long journey to Keppel Bay Sailing Club at Yeppoon in Central Queensland for the Queensland Youth Week, 2020 - first time they have ventured to a regatta at another venue. Reports are that they are having a great time, learning heaps from the training sessions and making lots of new friends from Clubs throughout Queensland. Now that the Racing has started, they are finding that they can hold their own on the water against other competitors! Great to see them continuing the Maroochy involvement with this great regatta.

10.01.2022 Last Saturday, Maroochy Sailing Club hosted the Queensland Sabre Dinghy Championships on our River course. Fourteen boats enjoyed good water, a fresh breeze and great competition. John Campbell took home the Trophy, with Maroochy sailors Phil Gray and James Grieve filling the minor placings. Several Maroochy Club Youth competed in the Club Sabres, with Riley House winning the Junior Trophy and Sean Saunders the Handicap Trophy. More on the Club website!

07.01.2022 Spectacular afternoon sailing for the new Race Squad with our new club Instructor Indi. The club is now offering a range of sailing opportunities from beginner to experienced, from 8 years old to mature ages! Check our our website. There’s never been a better time to put a whole lot of blue skies and blue water into your week!

07.01.2022 Friday afternoon saw the conclusion of Maroochy Sailing Club’s Tackers 1 Course for the September School Holidays. The first day was bit challenging with conditions, but as is often the way, you learn quicker when it is a bit testing and then can really enjoy the milder condition later. The young Tackers were presented with their Level Certificates and posed for a picture with their on-water Assistant Instructors, Billy Richards and Matt Hattrick. I heard reports of a great... bunch of young sailors, and a number of them seem keen to sign up for further training courses to continue developing their skills. Special Thanks to Graeme Hattrick, Principal Instructor, who has organised these courses for the past few years, handing the tiller over to Indi Laborie who has some extensive courses arranged, starting in October.

03.01.2022 Busy Sunday afternoon on our Maroochy sailing course with our regular club racers joined by sailing teams from Sunshine Coast Schools and a fleet of Impulse dinghies -- over 25 boats on the water. All appreciated the moderate breeze and clear blue water from a making tide, and the pleasant competition. Great way to spend an afternoon - enjoying wind and water! Thanks to Sean we have a few pics of the action on the water - more on our website!

01.01.2022 Also at Yeppoon for Qld Youth Week is Riley House, testing his skills by sailing a Laser Radial - a step up from the 4.7 rig he sailed last year. Riley is accompanied by his father, Stuart, who decided he wanted some sailing also, so took his NACRA catamaran along to get out on the water. Riley is currently lying a creditable 8th in the Laser Radial Fleet which is facing increasing challenges from the strengthening winds and swells now about 25knots and 2-3 metres respectiv...ely. Due to the conditions, many of the Laser 4.7’s, including Caitlin and Saskia, gave racing a miss yesterday! When racing for the day is over, Riley swaps boats with his Dad and takes the Nacra for some fun times on the water!
