24.01.2022 Stay tuned exciting news coming from Maroondah Hospital soon! Keep an eye on our Facebook page and website for more information in the future.

23.01.2022 We are thrilled to announce that scalp cooling at Maroondah Hospital is now available. Scalp cooling technology reduces hair loss in breast cancer chemotherapy ...patients. This service was completely funded through donations, and for this we are extremely grateful. Thank you to every community group, business, organisation and individual donor who contributed to this wonderful cause. Currently, there is one machine operating. We are still raising funds for a second machine, which will treat another two patients simultaneously. To contribute or find out more, visit www.coolheads.org.au. The funds raised cover the cost of purchasing the machines, training of staff, as well as research into the effectiveness of scalp cooling when used in conjunction with other chemotherapy treatments for different cancer streams. We hope this service will be available to patients receiving chemotherapy for other cancers in the future. Once again, we thank you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARhCBwPzodY

21.01.2022 It's been a pleasure to look after Vic at Maroondah Hospital and so good to have him on the mend. All the best to all COVID-19 patients across Victoria in their recovery.

21.01.2022 Maroondah Hospital’s new 542 space multi-deck car park will open on Monday 28 October, significantly boosting capacity for patients, staff, volunteers and visit...ors. The new multi-deck car park, to be known as the Grey St car park will be accessible to staff only, freeing up 100 per cent of spaces in the existing multi-deck Davey Drive car park for patients and visitors. By freeing up all car parking spaces in the existing multi-deck on Davey Drive, we are providing patients and visitors with ample parking closest to the hospital, immediately opposite the main entrance. This is particularly beneficial for our patients, who often have mobility limitations or health conditions and require their car to be in close proximity to the hospital. 20.01.2022 Our team at Maroondah Hospital are continually overwhelmed with the generosity of our wonderful community. As we shared earlier in the week, we have been acknowledged and thanked by our wonderful Ringwood East Shops with a heart-warming video and a delivery of much needed sustenance. We were delighted to receive over 700 Easter hot cross buns from Kilsyth and Eastland Bakers Delight. We shared these yummy treats across our site from support services to engineering and inp...atient wards. Last night the Maroondah Emergency Department were treated to an incredibly generous and delicious delivery of 330 meals, 4 boxes of fruit, drinks and banana bread from Alex Makes Meals and his team of drivers. Given the quantity of food, we were able to provide meals for our staff in ED including doctors, nurses, clerical, care coordinators, security and PSAs, as well as our colleagues on other wards. In addition, we also delivered some meals to our ED colleagues at Box Hill Hospital and Angliss Hospital. We are so grateful to our supportive community and we are proud to provide you with great care, everywhere, every time. #COVID19

19.01.2022 Treat people how you want to be treated, is the principle that Carly, Occupational Therapist lives by. Every day her goal at work is to provide practical support to patients so they can reach their potential and live life to the fullest. I’ve been with Healesville Hospital and Yarra Valley Health since the redevelopment in February 2017. There’s a great camaraderie within the team and it’s wonderful to see kindness in action with each patient. Plus the scenery here is be...autiful, Carly says with a smile. Sometimes as an occupational therapist you have to be creative to help patients manage independently at home. For example, I recently went out of my way to set up a microwave and portable phone at a patient’s home. It’s important to encourage and empower patients as much as possible. Carly’s exceptional commitment to her patients was recognised recently at Eastern Health’s employee Aspire to Inspire awards where she received the Patients First award. It was a shock to win and a little embarrassing because everyone comes to work and does their job - so to be recognised was truly humbling. During Occupational Therapy Week (October 21-27) Eastern Health’s Occupational Therapy teams are celebrating their achievements and efforts at a forum and afternoon tea.

19.01.2022 If you do notice any change, I think it’s really important to get it checked out because we know self-detection is crucial. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and Danielle’s powerful personal story is a reminder to stay breast aware, no matter your age.

18.01.2022 The team at Maroondah BreastScreen will analyse and report on data collected during the screening trial of 10,000 clients in an effort to compare detection rates of breast cancer through 3D mammography and 2D mammography testing. 10.01.2022 Women's Health Week is a really important week to remind women to focus on themselves and their health, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. We know women have been hesitant about coming to have their BreastScreen during the pandemic. We have seen a 40% reduction in the early detection of breast cancer. We urge women to be breast aware, keep up with your BreastScreen appointments and if you have any concerns, please see your GP.

10.01.2022 There is an increased risk of Thunderstorm Asthma today. Check the risk in your area: go.vic.gov.au/d8m0AW

09.01.2022 Last week was the official opening of the new Maroondah Hospital staff carpark. Thanks to the Hon. Michael Sukkar MP for his support. By freeing up spaces in the existing multi-deck car park on Davey Drive, we are providing patients and visitors with ample parking, closest to the hospital, immediately opposite the main entrance. 07.01.2022 One of our patients, a young lady, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and unfortunately also had a phobia of needles. She was very motivated to manage her illn...ess and after working together, lots of reassurance and support, she’s now living a full life without the illness getting in her way. Seeing such a positive outcome is so rewarding and really inspires me to keep improving the service we provide. Ralph is a Diabetes Educator at Maroondah Hospital. An important part of the job is tailoring education to each individual patient. Here at Maroondah Hospital, we see a real mixture of people with different levels of health literacy. Because diabetes is largely in the patient’s hands to manage themselves, we customise the education so they can absorb and engage with their treatment.

06.01.2022 Please be aware, our three Emergency Departments (Angliss Hospital, Box Hill Hospital and Maroondah Hospital) are currently experiencing very high demand. Plea...se keep the Emergency Department for emergencies. People with non-urgent, non-life threatening conditions should expect long waits. Alternatives options are available.
