21.01.2022 Join us tomorrow night 19 November for our second interview with our very own Rabbinit Yehudit on her personal journey towards faith and leadership. Can't wait!

21.01.2022 Over the next three weeks I look forward to interviewing 3 of Sydney's rabbis - and dear colleagues - on their personal journeys towards faith and leadership. Can't wait!

14.01.2022 I have just returned from turning on all the lights in our Synagogue to burn throughout the night. We are joining with Synagogue’s around the world in commemora...tion of Kristallnacht (night of broken glass) in which 267 Synagogues and some 7000 Jewish businesses across Germany and Austria were set alight, looted and destroyed on these days of 9-10 November, 1938 in a mass pogrom that really set the stage of what was to come. So tonight, we keep our lights on to remember the light that was extinguished. Tonight we also remember the late Rabbi Jonathan Sacks Rabbi Sacks who was buried only hours ago and the light that he gave to the world. In his eulogy it was said that he once remarked: He doesn’t wish to be remembered as the Chief Rabbi of the British Commonwealth, or as the rabbi who was knighted by the Queen, but rather, as the rabbi who gave out sweets to children in Synagogue. Indeed we are all his children and he gave us all so many sweets through his teachings and the immense compassion, love and illumination that he imparted to the world. Together we will unite the world again may anti-semitism, racism, intolerance and hatred by shining a light over darkness and hate #lettherebelight

09.01.2022 We are so excited to welcome children's services back into Shul this Friday night! Please register by Thursday 10pm: https://docs.google.com//12gQdlgdAcC2L_Nn0CF-jBQ/viewform

04.01.2022 The first time I met Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks - previous Chief rabbi to the British Commonwealth - was at a function at The Central Synagogue on 26th January ...2012. I was working there at l the time as Ba’al Koreh (Torah reader) and youth rabbi and had the honour of reading the Torah for him at the service, see below picture. After the event I went over to him and asked him how he comes up with so much inspirational content for every occasion and what his thoughts were as to the ideal sermon. I genuinely wanted to know as a young rabbi starting out. He replied to me that a rabbi must know to whom he was speaking. You must know your audience he said to me.. and speak not what YOU want to say but what you think THEY need to hear. This morning we Awoke to the tragic news that Rabbi Sacks passed away at the young age of 72. Personally, he was one of my greatest role models and inspired me in so many ways as a young rabbi making my way in the Rabbinate. There is hardly a week where I don't learn or teach from Rabbi Sacks' works. He has been called the world's 'moral compass' and every fibre of his being was committed to teaching, inspiring, uplifting and representing the jewish people to the entire world. He was a champion not just in Jewish thought but one of the eminent philosophers and moral commentators of our generation. He will be sorely missed across the world in Jewish and non-Jewish circles alike. The world has lost one of its brightest lights but I know his teachings and legacy will continue to inspire.
