19.01.2022 "I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds." Psalm 77:11-12 It can be so easy to get overwhelmed with new rules about what we can and can’t do; home schooling via zoom with no internet; new work environments; social lives that now look so different and the list can go on and on. Week to week there are uncertainties and changes to society. The psalmist here has su...ch simple great advice. To remember all that God has already done for us in our lives. To deliberately take time to reflect on the miracles He has already done, to remember just who He really is. To be grateful for what has already been and to know that He is not finished yet for He is still the same miracle working God, yesterday today and forever. Take a moment today to look back to a time when God worked in your life, praise Him for that testimony and declare truth over your life that He’s not finished working miracles yet.

16.01.2022 "Continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness." Col 2:6-7 How often have you wanted to just give up? Yet, this scripture reminds us to continue, to keep going, not to give up but to keep living our lives in Jesus, rooted in Him. When you live your life with someone it means you see them lots, you spend time with them and you have deep and meaningful conversations with them. You’...re not just a visitor but a family member who knows the ins-and-out of that person. Like family, we're called to live like that with Jesus - to talk to Him, listen to Him, cry with Him, and laugh with Him. When we truly live with Jesus, we allow His presence to fill every little area of our lives and we begin to praise Him because of who He is, regardless of our circumstances. As our heart starts to praise, our thankfulness and joy increases, and before you know it, those around us begin to get a taste of the overflow of Jesus’s love as it pours out of us! It all starts with a heart that doesn’t give up, a heart that chooses to live closely with Jesus each and every day, and a heart filled with thankfulness. What are you going to choose today?

10.01.2022 "Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience" Col 3:12. Compassion is an active thing whereas sympathy is passive. Compassion stirs up your heart and gets you out of your comfortable armchair and into being active; to truly love those around us just as Jesus loves us. Sometimes verses like these can be so far from how we may be feeling emotionally. As you read this, you might be feeling exhausted, over...whelmed, despondent or just plain grumpy. But God always choses to be compassionate towards us, He steps into our pain, bringing healing and peace, and He asks us to ‘put on a heart’ of that same compassion towards others, even if we don't ‘feel’ it. We have a choice to ‘put on compassion’ and wear it well today, or we have a choice to leave it behind on the bedroom floor where we may have thrown it off a few days ago. Take a moment to think what it would be like if God decided to leave His compassion towards you on the floor - what would your life be like without our incredible mighty God showing His never-ending compassion towards you? Now think, will you go back, bow your head, repent to our almighty God and pick it up? How can you show kindness, humility, gentleness and patience to those in your life today? What a difference it would make if we all did that! #clothedwithcompassion #lovegodloveothers #eyestosee #compassion #wordstoponder #riverlifewomen via @the.mustard.seed_

08.01.2022 "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but what is unseen since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." Cor 4:18 Every day we wake up at the moment and it can feel as if we are greeted with more bad news about what is happening in our world. The news declares the disasters at hand and social media can amplify the fear and unrest that is happening all around. Even in our own lives, situations may have changed beyond recognition, and it’s in this state that... we are told to fix our eyes not on what is seen but what is unseen. Paul encourages us in Corinthians 4:18 to fix our eyes on Jesus, who is unchanging in all seasons, which means in Him there is no uncertainty at all, even when there might be in our own lives. In Him all fear, and anxiety is gone. The words are to 'fix our eyes' not simply to glance or look at what is unseen, but to actually fix and, ‘attach’ or to glue our eyes to Jesus. But this can be a hard thing to actually do, especially when it appears as if everything around is sinking sand. It’s here that Jesus Christ has to be our cornerstone! He is our solid rock, He is unshakeable and while this season, as awful as it is, will pass, He is eternal and He will never end. When things of this earth may feel overwhelming today, try to take a step back and lift your heart and your eyes to Jesus. As you fix your eyes on Him, acknowledge that He is still in control and He is still on the throne.

08.01.2022 "Yes, my soul finds rest in God; my hope comes from him. Truly he is my rock and salvation; he is my fortress; I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honour depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge." Ps 62:5-8 For God is our refuge, wow! How incredible are these words; God is our safe place. The words used here in these verses are strong and powerful because that is exactly w...ho God is. He is our rock, he is our salvation he is our refuge. The world doesn’t appear to have too many safe places at the moment that we can lean into or that we can trust. And yet, here we find truth in these verses. Let these words sink into your soul. He is mighty to save! Let Him be your refuge today, let Him be your safe place, let Him bring his peace into the storm. Don't push God away, don’t ignore that still small voice as He whispers to your ear reminding you He’s got this, and because He alone is our Mighty Saviour!

06.01.2022 "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is thy faithfulness. I say to myself the Lord is my portion therefore I will wait for him." Lamentations 3:22-24 This is a promise from God and He does not lie! If we keep our eyes fixed on Him we will not be consumed by whatever is going on around us, even if everything falls away, God is still faithful and He is still God nothing will ever shake Him. H...is mercies are new every day and His love for us never fails. Even when we go through the valley of the shadow of death, He is with us. But so often, we can get caught up in the rush and stress of each new day, rather than resting on his promises and waiting for Him. He reminds us through this passage to wait for Him. Have you ever considered that He is never late? Even though it may feel as if He’s leaving things until way past the last minute, He is perfect in all of His ways. Slow down today, take a deep breath and be reminded of His great love for you; there are new mercies every day and He is our faithful God who wants to be involved in every area of your life - if you will only invite Him into it and wait for His guidance!

02.01.2022 "Rejoice in the Lord always. I say it again; Rejoice. Let your gentleness be evident to all. The lord is near, do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Phil 4:4-7 It can sound so crazy to praise and rejoice always! It’s so easy to rejoice when everything is going well and life is goo...d, but surely it doesn’t mean we have to rejoice when things are going badly? Does it mean Paul is saying we should rejoice because of a global pandemic? No, of course not! But we do rejoice in the Lord because of who He is, because He is God and He is worthy of our praise each and every day. We praise Him for working in the past. We praise Him in the present, despite our circumstances. And we praise Him for what is to come, knowing that He is near. Paul tells us do not be anxious about anything, which just shows us again how gracious God’s love towards us is; because He already knows just how anxious we can get - especially us ladies! To our anxious thoughts, Paul encourages us to pray. Pray? Yes, pray about everything all day and every day. Keep your conversations with our almighty Father going all day and all night, and even in those moments you cannot sleep. Give to Him every little thing that clogs up your mind and let it go, because He’s holding you and He promises to give you His peace. Choose today to praise God for who He is, to talk to Him and to trust Him with all the massive and tiny things causing you to worry, and to let them go and allow His peace to come in and fill your heart and your soul. #rejoiceinthelordalways #peaceofgodthatpassesalllunderstanding #praycontinually #thingstoponder
