24.01.2022 Better late, than never! Please welcome our newest coach down at Maroubra Beach! ABUBARR KAMARA Abu's volleyball career has started, when we was 13 years old and since then has achieved a lot as a national team player for his home country Sierra Leone. His personal highlight was definitely competing at the Commonwealth Games and bringing home a 5th place.... He has heaps of experience in coaching indoor and beach from back home and since he arrived in Sydney in 2018. Volleyball is Abu's passion and it means for him: enjoyment, team work, respect, discipline and overall "just keep the ball flying". He sees himself as a mentor and motivator for players to achieve their goals and become competitive players. In case you haven't seen Abu's jump top spin serve, ask him for a demonstration and for some tips ;) Welcome Abu and thanks for all your efforts :)

17.01.2022 COVID - 19 UPDATE, 20.03.2020 Hey beach volleyball community, good news at this stage we will be continuing to offer classes and all other activities. ... We are actively monitoring the latest updates on COVID-19 and will continue to provide updates to our players as they become available. At this stage, the Australian government has placed a ban on all major events with more than 500 people. There is currently no restrictions on participating in or attending events in NSW with less than 500 people In this regard, a briefing by the Federal Sports Minister today advised that non-contact sports, particularly those played outdoors, should remain available to the community if they are able to meet the risk mitigation measures such as remaining at home if you are not well, social distancing, handwashing and the coughing protocol. It is important that we all act wisely in the public health interests of the broader community. Major participation sports like volleyball and beach volleyball are important to the social fabric of our society encouraging ongoing physical activity so vital for the ongoing mental and physical well being of us all. Its up to all of us to do the right thing to stem the risk of infection. If you have been in close contact with someone who has the coronavirus or it you are feeling unwell or are experiencing flu like symptoms, follow medical advice and stay at home in consultation with your doctor. IF YOU COME IN CONTACT WITH ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED TO HAVE THE CORONA VIRUS and you have attended one of our classes please let us know as soon as possible. 04.01.2022 Dear Beachvolleyball.com.au Community, We have great news: We are back!!! Randwick Council has allowed us to recommence our beach volleyball coaching activities at Maroubra Beach. So far we are only allowed to run classes, which means for social league and our tourneys we have to wait a little while longer. ... So beginner courses and squads are back! We will start with a squad this weekend (13/14th of June) and hopefully get beginners back by the weekend after :) A little reminder in regards to COVID-19: Beachvolleyball.com.au has put in place preventative measures such as reducing the incidence of contact as well as an increased hygiene protocol in line with the national principles for the resumption of sport and recreation activities by the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in a COVID-19 environment. However, all participants need to be responsible for their own safety and assess the risk they might put themselves in by participating in activities run by beachvolleyball.com.au. Beach volleyball is a non-contact sport and we will design drills/activities with no deliberate body contact, however accidental contact or less than 1.5m distance may occur on a very rare basis.
