12.01.2022 The Sunday Night Program on Chiropractic: Tonights Sunday Program made a circus of an important issue, and as a result a number of issues canvassed during the ...program require clarification: 1. All Australian chiropractors operate within a well-defined code of conduct and are regulated by the Chiropractic Board of Australia and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). 2. The ACA supports the Australian governments view that immunisation is an important healthcare initiative. 3. There is very little evidence of harm of treating children with spinal manipulation. 4. Chiropractic has an impeccable safety record in Australia, with approximately 30,000 paediatric visits to chiropractors every week nationally, and in the last 20 years the insurance company which insures approximately 70% of Australian chiropractors has not defended, nor settled a claim against a chiropractor arising out of the treatment of a child under 12. It is reasonable to assume at least 12 million services have been provided in this time. 5. There is significant evidence of the value parents experience of the informed care provided. 6. The extent of high-level evidence for SMT care for children is not extensive, however the absence of evidence does not mean the absence of effectiveness. 7. If the law applied to all health providers is uniform and equitable then many other professions, including surgeons and medical doctors, should be restricted in their care because they do have evidence of harm and the extent of high-level evidence for care is also not extensive. 8. ACA supports minimisation of harm not restriction of choice.

11.01.2022 Thanks to the Victorian Government for doing this research for us. The largest response ever to a call for public feedback by the Victorian government found that 99.7% of parents had a positive experience of chiropractic care for their child. We cant share testimonials so this kind of research is very important for the public to see whats possible. Thank you to our patients who took the time to participate in the public survey and share their experiences. Your feedback has been so valuable.

07.01.2022 The ACA is aware of articles appearing in News Limited papers around the country this morning concerning Spinal Manipulation of Children by chiropractors. The a...rticles quote selectively from the Safer Care Victoria (SCV) final report, selecting facts to fit a narrative. Our response to the Herald Sun can be accessed at www.chiro.org.au/media. ACA members should read their email from ACA President, Dr Anthony Coxon, sent a short while ago. The SCV final report is available now on the Safer Care Victoria website. The report includes a Public Consultation Report prepared by EY Sweeney and the Systematic Review of Spinal Manipulation in Children prepared by Cochrane Australia. Todays reporting has been driven by just one Health Minister, and no formal decision has been announced by all Health Ministers who are meeting today and tomorrow. The ACA continues to represent its members and those Australians who make informed choices on behalf of their children every day and value highly the care they receive from chiropractors. 01.01.2022 We are asking for your help. It is a crucial time for you to share your experience of chiropractic care for your children, or yourself, by making a short online submission prior to Friday 21 June 2019 at engage.vic.gov.au/chiropractic-spinal-care-children-review As a result of some negative media coverage about chiropractic care for children, the Victorian Minister for Health has asked Safer Care Victoria (SCV) to lead a national review of the practice of spinal manipulation ...on children under 12 years of age. This review has come about with no evidence of harm of any child in Australia and very limited cases worldwide over the last 60 years. As part of the review, it calls for submissions from members of the public to ensure an informed decision is made about the future of chiropractic care for children under the age of 12. Please share your story about how chiro care has helped your kids after birth trauma, learning to crawl/walk, starting school, the hundreds of falls, bumps and trips they have and correcting posture with all the electronic devices nowadays. If you dont have kids, you can share your story about how chiropractic care has helped you. All you need to do is fill out this short survey for Safer Care Victoria, any member of the public can complete a submission even those without children. If you have any other questions or need more information, please do not hesitate to contact our practice on 08 8364 5044.
