24.01.2022 Due to the current COVID-19 situation and social distancing measures the MHS P&C AGM that was planned for Tuesday 31st March has been postponed. As per P&C Federation guidelines the current P&C executive will remain in place until such time as the meeting can occur. The school Canteen & Uniform Shop are now closed until school returns.
22.01.2022 The MHS Uniform Shop will not be accepting cash payments at the moment. Please pay by Eftpos. This is in line with requests from other retail outlets in order help with limiting contact with surfaces between staff and customers.
22.01.2022 The turning of the sod at the new Meadowbank school site occurred this week. See what Northen Sydney P&C Council said about it here: https://www.facebook.com/NorthernSydneyPandCCouncil/posts/172392770985061
21.01.2022 School catchments changes in Ryde-Parramatta area Changing school enrolment boundaries always causes alarm and anxiety for parents. Many parents pay millions of... dollars to buy houses to move in-area for a specific school such as Willoughby Girls High School. This anxiety is amplified by the recent crackdown on out-of-area enrolments. Our post on Sunday caused some alarm but will have caused no surprise to parents in the Ryde-Parramatta area. Everybody was shocked by the announcement on 26th June 2018 that Marsden High School would be closed at its existing site near Ermington and relocated to the new education precinct. Its spacious 5.4 hectares of school grounds on the flood plain of Archer Creek are to be paved to create a community netball centre which will rival the Genea Netball Centre across the Parramatta River at Sydney Olympic Park. The existing netball centre at Meadowbank is to be ripped up to create a regional playground similar to the regional playground at Newington Armoury Park just across the Parramatta River. These grand plans seem brilliant until parents understand school demographics in the Ryde-Parramatta area. According to our demographic projections the new schools at Meadowbank will be filled by the students now living in the massive housing development in the Shepherds Bay and Meadowbank area. Meadowbank Public School and West Ryde Public School have been overcrowded for many years. Ryde Secondary College is now suffering from overcrowding and has hardly any open space for school sports or recreation. So why doesnt the Education Department have any plans to expand that excellent school? This is what the Minister said: when these new schools [referring to Meadowbank Education Precinct and Macquarie Park Education Precinct] are opened, surrounding schools will benefit from revised catchment boundary helping to ease current enrolment pressure. The Department expects that this will be the case for Ryde Secondary College. So there you have it; RSC is going to have its catchment reduced. Moving Marsden High School to the new Meadowbank campus must result in the westerly suburbs of its current catchment (such as Ermington, Melrose Park and Eastwood) being excluded. Parramatta Council recently approved plans to build 11,000 extra dwellings at Melrose Park which is only 800m walk from the existing Marsden High School site. That development will require a massive expansion of Ermington Public School, Melrose Park Public School and an additional secondary school for 2,000 high school students. Demolishing a spacious 5.4 hectares of school grounds on the flood plain of Archer Creek to relocate a community netball centre seems very shortsighted and should be overturned before it is too late.
21.01.2022 Due to changes in personal situations, the Marsden High School P&C is looking for a volunteer within the school community to perform bookkeeping duties for our two businesses, the Uniform Shop and the Canteen approx 5 hours a week. This includes processing accounts payable and receivables, as well as processing of the weekly payroll (4-5 staff). If this is something that you would be interested in please contact Danielle Wilcock via email: [email protected]

17.01.2022 Northern Sydney District P&C posted about the school infrastructure projects. Note that whilst NSDC think it's likely that the new Marsden school in Meadowbank won't open until 2023, School Infrastructure NSW still has 2022 as the official opening date on the project website. Note also that NSDC FB page has moved so head over to it and Like it if you want to be kept up to date with school news in our region.

07.01.2022 A view of the work starting....
07.01.2022 Melrose Park Schools Crisis what more can we do if they wont listen? Remember in September NSDC highlighted that 11,000 new dwellings in Melrose Park will re...sult in a peak number of 1,404 (not 438) additional pre-schoolers in 2033, a peak number of 2,085 (not 680) additional primary students in 2038 and a peak number of 1,835 (not 499) additional secondary students in 2045. Parramatta Councils response is attached and is that the Education Department is happy with the 2 hectares provided so no action is required. We wonder if the Education Department have spotted that 1 hectare is a playing field that is also counted as community open space leaving only 1.1 hectares for the actual school - about a third of the size of the new Meadowbank Education Precinct. How are the developers going to sell the units if there are no schools for the kids? We know two fellows that were very happy.
06.01.2022 West Ryde Public School has had a new building added as part of a School Infrastructure NSW project. During the project it was committed that the play equipment would be restored and that Astroturf would be installed instead of grass. Prior to the build the oval alternated between dust bowl and mud pit as the number of students was just too great for grass to grow. The school community has just been told that neither the play equipment or the Astroturf will be going ahead.... The P&C has started a petition. Please help our Public School friends at West Ryde Public School and sign their petition. http://chng.it/XMq5dtq4tm See more
